Problem here
If anyone can shed light on this problem i would be grateful.
Just downloaded the Mod 2.0b then patched it up to 2.6 then threw in the Music Pack. All the installs went just fine all gave notice they installed correctly. but when i click on my desktop shortcut to load game i get this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\The New Shadow.lnk
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
it then gives me to choices either i can close or ignore.
both choices just send me back to desktop.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Re: Problem here
a) Vanilla BI runs normally?
b) Try to create a short cut manually, adjusting the "target" line (-mod:bi/ci etc) and check again if it works.

Re: Problem here
yes BI vanilla runs no problem.
And i see the short cut target is this:
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -nm -show_err -mod:bi\ci
any clues as to what the problem might be?
Thanks for answering, Hope i can get this thing working.

Re: Problem here
That error sounds like the shortcut is pointing somewhere it shouldn't be, but your target line looks correct as long as the exe is actually in that location. In other words, the bit in the speech marks should look the same as your vanilla BI shortcut's target line. Is this so?

Re: Problem here
The target line for BI vanilla is:
"C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe"
and the target line for the New shadow is:
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -nm -show_err -mod:bi\ci
I'm not to program savy..not sure what "the bit in the speech marks" means. sorry

Re: Problem here
I noticed when i hit find target for The New Shadow it opens up a folder for Rome Total war not the same folder as Rome total war with the exe. files in it.
Could this be the problem? and if so.how would i change the target?
thanks again.

Re: Problem here
It seems you have installed in the wrong location. Uninstall TNS and install again, this time pointing your installer to the folder were the RTW-BI.exe lies.

Re: Problem here
By default, the installer is set to install FATW to an "Activision" folder. If you have the Gold Edition (or the Eras etc), RTW is actually installed at a "The Creative Assembly" directory. So, when you install FATW, at the point where the installer asks you where to put the mod, simply select "browse" and point it at the C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\ directory.

Re: Problem here
didnt think the gold edition way applied to me because i bought both total war and BI seperate.
But i reinstalled with the creative assembly path and looks like it will work now.
Which disk should i use to play the game.
RTW play disk or BI play disk?
And thank you very much for all the help and info.

Re: Problem here
Umm... MoN is former Coding Manager and Mod Leader of FATW (plus the one who actually made the build). Even if he wasn't though, it wouldn't hurt to show some respect.
