Playing as the Danes in the Teutonic campaign I was looking forward to the chage of banner and the alliance with Norway, I have captured all of Scandiavia and nothing happened.

Could someone explain why it didn't work??

Balkan aliiance??? you mean kalmar union? I think you need to just kill the Norweign king instead of destroying them completely.

You have to capture certain key regions in Scandinavia. A message will pop up and tell you which one. After that the Norwegian king has to die, either due to old age, by assassination or during a battle.

Yeah sorry the Kalmar union... In my first couple of turns I took the rebel city of Kalmar, then the turn after a widow opened and it was wrtin that the Danes could form the Kalmar Union by taking all of Scandinivia..

So please did someone actually did it, because it gives you a new banner and 3 new units.

Yeh, I did the same thing first time round, replayed it just to have the new banners. TBH it is hardly worth it all you get is the banners and norways units. Better off killing the norwiegns at the start.

If done right you get a free region without a fight and a different banner. The three extra units are not really worth it except the Gotland Footmen which are two handed swordsmen that kick some but during mêlée.

i would have pursued an entirely different opening strategy had i known about this (i focused on wiping out norway first - then leisurely taking out the other rebel cities)

now i guess i'll just have to play it again

You didn't have to add your comment on my error, It's the Kalmar union I know.. But talking about Balkan.... There is another thing that you can do the help your trade by actually capturing all of the Balkan cities, it's a guild type, the Danes are also in good position for this

It the same as the pic ^ but its cut off some so it's just a red plus sign on a yellow background.

OK played a bit this week-end and I have now all of the cities that I needed to have, Norway is my Vassals and now I've received a message, that I only need to wait for the Norway King to die to be proclaimed King in his place, but for that I have to keep the cities. I will send him an assassin then
