Crash every time any MTW campaign is tried

Hi all, nice to be here.

Obviously got a bit of a problem with my game, I've got the Gold edition of MTW (so the viking invasion bit as well) and whenever I attempt to begin any new campaign, the game goes to the loading screen and crashes after 2 seconds or so, without anything registering on the loading bar. However, the battles themselves work fine, so I can do the quick/custom/historical battles without hitch. Kinda annoying.
If anybody has any suggestions for resolving this, please help! And bear in mind that I'm technically inept so please explain things simply!

Did you mode it?

It sounds like you just need to uninstall it and reinstall it. Just turn off or disable everything but your firewall and antivirus.

Here's a qustion for you using vista or no.

Have you tried it on the lowest campaign settings with all the eye candy turned off?

Yes, I am using vista.

And yes, I've tried it with everything at lowest, sadly to no avail.

I might also mention that the game seems to have problems keeping within it's window, by which I mean that when flicking between menus and stuff it likes to take me back to my desktop, flicker a bit, then come back onto my screen. Not sure if that helps?

Ahh... honestly, I don't know how I'd go about doing that. Sorry if that's something really obvious that I should have done! So how can I do that?

well i figure this cant hurt to try and im sure all these knowledgeable people are probably shaking their heads at this suggestion coming from me (someone who really doesnt know what there doing). Anyway i have the same problem with the EB mod for RTW so try this: reinstall MTW and when it prompts u to install it in a folder outside the program files folder. This means do not let it install in the default folder; create one somewhere else.

I dont actually own MTW so if this seems silly for some, i appoligise. Anyways good luck thats all that i think i know.

I've actually done what pchalk has said a few times with some of my games that didn't work, and it did afterwards. It may be that your links are a screwing up and not linking to the right .dll and other files. Try what pchalk says.

All right now i have finally got to happen to me now I crashed on me becuase my video card res is 1670X1050. Now when I put at the max size it has for MTW it dosnt crash now i dont know if this helps but it what caused it for me.
