    Default Sound problem

hi, i am having a sound problem in rtw. i recently updated to vista, and when i start my game the sound is cracling really bad and it sounds distorted, also when i try to switch to something else then miles2d audio it says "unable to activate sound provider" or something like that. i also want to say i didn't even start the "game", it was all in the main menu.

i have the gold edition so it means it is already patched

when i had xp everything worked fine. can anyone help?

Unfortunately, I have the same problem. I'm running Vista 64 bit and have managed to install a Sound Blaster X-Fi in my PC. Windows recognizes the card - I can bring up various consoles for the card without problems but for some reason RTW does not recognize the card to allow EAX. (I did install other games but there is no similar 'sound source selection' in any of the games.

With Vista I've used the Tweak_UAC program and I install games to a different drive. The X-Fi is installed in the "C:\Program Files (x86)" folder.

    In a word no.

Do you think I would post, say I have a solution and not let you know what it was........

I get sound - just can't select EAX on the options menu. I don't have on-board sound.
