Changing the Title of a Faction Leader

Like for example how would to change a Doge's title to lets say Emperor?

make sure you have your game unpacked


now go to X/data/text/

search for a .txt file named expanded.txt

open it

search for this:

{EMT_X_FACTION_LEADER_NAME}Y %S
{EMT_X_FACTION_LEADER_TITLE}Faction Leader
{EMT_X_FISHING_VILLAGE}Danish Fishing Village
{EMT_X_FORMER_FACTION_LEADER_TITLE}Y

the bold lines are the ones it matters

X = faction you want to change the faction leader title

Y = title that appears in the game


a little example, im going to change the title of a faction leader of the faction X, to president:

Also I want to confirm I open this with notepad and should I finish this after it is completely unpacked?

I opened expanded.txt.strings with notepaid and its coming up with text everywhere

Sorry double post but now that whole file is screwed, it seems everything still is the same but everything is in strange characters

Yeah, you'd want to get the .strings.bin converter before you go messing with any .strings.bin files - it can convert them into an editable format.

You can find alpaca's strings.bin converter at the above link. It is illegal on the forums to send original un-modified game files, so no one can send you the expanded.txt, you'll just have to download the tool and follow the very easy instructions to convert it to .txt.

Hey Swagger, what do you mean with unpacked?

sorkenlol - unpack means extract the game files from the CA packs, to moddable files


if you're using med2tw, update it with patch 1.2, and go to X/Sega/Med2tw/tools/unpacker/

press unpack_all (if you're using med2tw, or unpack_Y [Y = kingdoms campaign) and press Y(es)



and it will unpack
