The mongols have come and you can only recruit spear militia? You should have Varangian Guard!

Constantinople is very easy to defend, just place a ship in the straight and no one can attack Constantinople (Make sure to put a ship to the south straight also)

Have a standing army of Varangian Guard and Byzantine Guard Archers stationed inside Constantinople.

As said, block the straits. What territories do you have other than Constantinople?

As for the economy, keep your army as small as possible, build economic buildings and convert to cities where possible. When an opportunity occurs, capture enemy cities, sack them, destroy every building, then sell them to allies. This is unless you can hold on to the new city of course.
    End of an era

Try being nice to Venice. They like money. If you give them enough, you can get a ceasefire and maybe even an alliance!
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

No, it only defeats the purpose of an economy.

Yes, but money runs the game and rules the world. If you cheat to boost your economy, that is directly proportional to how powerful you are. More money = more soldiers = more territories = victory. Simple.

Actually, I only cheat for money to get alliances, when I'm in debt, or I'm not first Financially.

And besides, how can you tell me what's the right way to play my game?

You're right Double A, we don't know what's best for your game. Personal opinions aside, it's just as long as we enjoy playing the game. I enjoy mine, and you enjoy yours, so that's all that matters

try "un losing" them and taking Crete, Sardinia, and that other island that's north of Sardinia from the Christians. And you could even take Sicily out.

I must say that I've never tried the Bysantines campaign, to tell you the truth I think I'm sacred of playing them, starting position ain't bad but your like meat between the bread, the Turks, Mongols on one side, all the catholic factions on the other side.

I will have to try them sometime but I'm not looking forward to it as I've read that they are Hard, but I can say that The Turks are not easy either to play all the way trought

Jihads end if no generals have joined in 10 turns or they all died and another one doesn't join.

NO LATE REGISTRATION! (well, actually there is, but don't tell the ai. shhhhhh!)
