I thought it's not possible (?). Thats why most Middle-Earth mods end up with bitter fighting between Gondor and Rohan.

It is possible. Try looking at how various mods do it, like XGM for example. Iirc it does use a force diplomacy script.

Oh... So why was it that METW would always end up with bitter fighting between Rohan and Gondor and the Elves and the Dwarves? I thought force diplomacy scripts had drawbacks or something and so weren't implemented or were scrapped as an idea? Does it only work at the beginning of turns and so armies can then attack within their turn? I remember something like that. If not I need one of those...

Setting the relations between two factions at the start of each turn is different than a force-diplomacy script. Force diplomacy simple makes the AI accept the next diplomatic proposal the player makes. The disadvantage is that it requires a show-me script to run, afaik. There are also ways to deal with faction relations using the 'superfaction' code, but it has drawbacks as well. There are a couple of threads at the Org on that.

Ah I see I was thinking of the superfaction stuff which needs to be within a culture.
