Default !!PLEASE HELP ME!! (Adding MP battle maps)

    Hi guys!
Im stuck and need some help, and i've searched everywhere for solutions to my problems but cant find any, so im hoping someone who posts here can help.

    This is my problem.

I recently aqquired a load of extra multiplayer battle maps, which as long as i host the game, anyone can play. All factions are available to choose from, so i decided to try and make my own.

I opened the battle editor, and find im comfortable in using it.

Now, when i save the map in the editor, and go into my data/world/maps/battle folder, i copy the map from there into data/world/maps/custom and against the cpu it works fine. I can pick any factions and any units i like, however when i go online no-one can join unless they have the file.

I then tried opening the custom locations notebook thingy, and in there i copied the same format as my other maps and created my maps in there, using the X and Y locations as they were displayed in the battle editor, where you mark the map of the world. This loads them up fine in multiplayer and people can join them and pick any factions, however the changes to terrain i made dont show. So if i picked a sandy desert part of the battle editor map and edited it all flat with some trees, when i add the X and Y co-ordinates to my custom locations it loads up as it was before i edited this.

What am i doing wrong? How do i make a multiplayer battle map if this isnt how to do it?

I know how to do multiplayer scenarios, but i want all factions to be available, and without people needing to have the same file as me to join in.

I hope someone can help me, definately +REP for the people who do!

    EDIT

Just thought id point out im using RTW Vanilla V1.5!

From where did you acquire the battle maps? I would presume the problem may be that they are your own battlemaps and the other players don't have the terrain in their set up. I am a but surprised that other players can join a game that you have hosted - I would have thought that you would all need to have the same files.

The easiest way to create custom battles for use with MP is to select suitable locations from the campaign map and use them. Everyone will have the campaign map.

The following is a post I made over at the RTR forum about how to do this: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showp...98&postcount=2

A friend, its just a custom locations folder i replaced mine with, which contains loads of custom maps.

They dont need the files for the custom locations i made, but these dont have the terrain changes ive made.

Is it because even though i have edited the terrain on my campaign map, the other player hasnt so it defaults. Its really annoying when i flatten all the land out and place some trees, only to start a battle and find there is hills everywhere again.

Yes, after I was shown how to do this I am continually looking for and taking locations of decent battlefields for MP battles. I play RTW mods (RTR and RS) rather than RTW itself.

It's a matter of collecting them and putting them somewhere safe (the locations).

Hmmm, i've already started doing this, but when i zoom in on the campaign map it looks nice and flat, i take the co-ordinates and when i add them to see its not flat at all.

Is there somewhere in particular on the campaign map where there is flat ground to use? I've been all in the wastelands and sandy desert at the bottom, all across europe and nothing i find seems flat.

Also, i've got some co-ordinates and just outside of the playable area is a perfect looking map. If i host it on a 2v2, the area i want is to my left, so when i edit the X and Y co-ordinates, do i simply lower the X co-ordinate to move my selected area to the left?

If you pick sites straight from the campaign map then it's all down to luck! There can be bits that look flat but aren't (as you've discovered). I don't know if changing the x or y co-ordinate is the way to go - changing one to several different values may be way to go (make mulitple locations).

Maybe, just take a number and add them to the files and then see what they are like.

I've mainly done this using the Roma Surrectum map. I've also been taking note of the battlefields that could be useful.
