The Chronicle’s of Lucius Julius
“And when he gets to Heaven,
To Saint Peter he will tell,
One more soldier reporting for duty sir-
I’ve served my time in Hell”
It was only two days after the river skirmish when word came to Lucius’ camp that Atruscis and his army were only a two day march from their current position. Lucius smiled and said,
Lucius “Atruscis has made a mistake; he has given up his advantage of knowing the terrain better then us. Now he comes to fight us head on, but we must not be overconfident the rebel could still beat us. We must choose the battle ground wisely and then we will crush Atruscis and these rebel scum and win glory for ourselves and avenge all of the brave Romans that have died at the had of these Rebels.”
The Roman legion marched out of its camp the next day, but it did not march fast, because Lucius wanted to take his time to choose the perfect battlefield to destroy the rebels on, after half a day of marching Lucius found his battle field. The Roman army would deploy along a long and gentile slopping hill. Across from the Roman woods was a large forest that the Iberians would have to move through to get to the Romans. Lucius new this would be the perfect place to engage the numerically superior Iberians.
Lucius “This is where he will fight and destroy the rebels. They will have to push through several miles of dense forest to get to us, and then they will have to charge almost a mile across open ground and up a hill to get to our line. By the time are two lines meet in combat the Iberians will be exhausted.”
Roman officer “Sir, do you want the men to fortify the hill?”
Lucius “No, if we fortify our position it might give the Iberians second thoughts about engaging us here, and I want the battle to happen in this place.”
Atruscis and the Iberian Rebels pushed on toward the Romans. Atruscis was set on destroying the Romans in one battle. He wanted revenge for the death of his good friend Vixer, who had been killed several days earlier at the river skirmish.
Atruscis was only but a few miles from the Roman Army when he came upon the forest that separated the two armies. It was mid-afternoon and his men were beginning to tier from a day of marching. Atruscis’ officers pleaded with him to wait until tomorrow morning to push through the woods and too battle, but Atruscis would hear nothing of it.
Atruscis “We will push through the woods and fight the Roman’s today. I am tired of waiting to do battle with these Romans. We can and will beat them in battle as we have done so many times before.”
Iberian Officer “my lord we have never faced a real Roman legion before I think it would be best to wait until the men are rested before fighting them.”
Atruscis “Nonsense we outnumber them two to one there is no chance of us loosing, even if we are a little tired .
The Iberians pushed through the woods to go and meet the Romans in battle. It was sometime in the night before they emerged on the other side of the forest, and the Romans were waiting for them. Lucius was sure the Iberians would attack that night, so he had his men rest all that day, so they would be ready for the battle that night.
The two armies stared each other down for around an hour

After the long stare down Atruscis drew his sword and gave the order for his men to attack the Romans head on.

Lucius drew his sword and shouted out encouragement to his men telling them that if they stood firm they will easily destroy the Iberians

The battle is about to begin
