Default Quick question about the GOP Convention

Was Bush there? I didn't see it.

    Where was Cheney?

What mention was there of the last 8 years?

I didn't see the GOP convention, or the Dem for that matter, but these questions I would think would be pretty important for determining whether or not the same party can actually fix their mistakes.... or simply whitewash the last two terms.

Did you see McCain's speech? He was quite critical of republicans losing their way from the party of fiscal discipline and delving into democrat like corruption and spending.

Bush spoke via satelite, Cheney I'm not sure.

No, I need to watch that though. Cheney was in Georgia though meeting with oil people... quelle surprise.

Bush appeared vie satellite and endorsed McCain, bad move.

So how much wrongdoing did McCain admit?

What mention of the last 8 years, when Republicans had the majority, vast majority of the country's institutions under tight grip, did they make?

The Republicans only had the presidency and the congress combined for 2 years not 8, and that ended in 2006. Party bickering is what gets us nowhere, its always been that way and it not changing anytime soon.

To my knowledge since they brought Bush on, and Romney went about blaming liberals for big government, either they are all incredibly stupid, or just decided to conveniently forget their part in the problems.

Perhaps, but I doubt they will fall for it.

Was it Romney or Thompson that said that we need to get the liberals out of control of Washington so the conservatives can go in and fix everything? They all blend together after a while.

Except that rat bastard Joe Lieberman. His appearance there was a slap in the face to every democrat in my state.

    It was Romney...

Didn't the Democrats alienate Lieberman in the first place? Lieberman was always the McCain of the democrat party anyway.

He lost the Connecticut primary and then ran again as an independent by appealing to the Republicans, who defected to him instead of their own candidate. Now the Democrats have to play nice with him because he keeps their majority but he's anything but on their side.

There isn't a whole lot of love for Lieberman in CT

To me that sounds like the Democrats tried to oust him and he pwned them.

Yeah, how dare Joe Liebermann have the courage of his convictions and stand up for what he believes in! He shoulda rolled over.

The Dems in the Senate are lucky he chose to still caucus with them, leaving them with control of the Senate.

30% of Dems voted for Liebermann when he defeated the Democratic nominee. 70% of Republicans and I forget what percent of Independents voted for Liebermann. He still seems well loved in CT.

yet he didn't take it that way and has now throw in in his lot with the Republicans.

Bush had a video thing, both were scheduled to speak day 1 of convention but hurricane of course bumped day 1. Mccain's speech was actually very critical of GOP failures over the past years, he did so without naming names of course.

To my knowledge since they brought Bush on, and Romney went about blaming liberals for big government, either they are all incredibly stupid, or just decided to conveniently forget their part in the problems.
No that is just the way the conventions go, pretty much every speaker gets a theme they are suppose hit upon. Romney and Rudy were obviously attack, attack, attack...funny too Romney wrote his entire speech with little influence by Mccain camp.

Just about everyone attacked in the Republican one, while the Democrat one was more centred around propping up Obama amongst the Clintonians and undecideds.

They had different objectives/goals to meet...compare it to attacks on Bush during 2004 DNC. Mccain needs to attack Obama, Obama didnt need to attack Mccain he needed to have himself "annointed". Of course based on the outcome RNC was far more successful in their goal then Obama was.

I don't like negative campaigns to be honest, but that is just wishful thinking, like avoiding war. I just wished either neither side did any negative things, or just don't hold back.

I dont either but it is unfortunately a fact of life here...its just easier to attack the other guy then come up with solutions and try and express why your solutions are good. Id probably drop dead of shock if Mccain and Obama spent the next 2 months doing nothing but talking about THEIR plans, THEIR solutions and didnt even mention each other.
