Thread: Preview 2 - The units

They are pistol and sword armed Parliamentarian cavalry troopers. An early unit, armoured with only buffcoats and tri-bar pot helmets. They act as a small counter-balance to the abundance of armour that is found on the ironsides, lifeguards, and cuirassiers.

They're also inferior to the Royalist 'Cavalier' cavalry. This is backed up by the historical evidence that showed the Parliamentarian cavalry of 42 and 43 as being less well trained and not as effective.

I must go along with the tidal wave of praise and add mine as well!Simply amazing work,it is high time a modder went ahead of the pack and began producing mods that extend beyond the extent of the medieval era and its time line into the years of the early modern era, espcially seeing as unfortunately empire has completely skimmed over this entire period of time.Once again, excellent work, definately looking forward to its first release.

    No chance.

    AKA Lobster pots
A 3 bar pot is a lobster pot, but not all lobster pots are 3 bar pots. Mmm pot.

it is high time a modder went ahead of the pack and began producing mods that extend beyond the extent of the medieval era and its time line into the years of the early modern era, espcially seeing as unfortunately empire has completely skimmed over this entire period of time.
Part of the reason I started on this mod was that I couldn't find any 16th or 17th century era mods for MED2. It was a big shame to see pike and musket mod flop at the first turn. Even one or two of the campaign mods that changed the dates and added a few cloned factions seemed a bit .... scrawny.

Does your mod contain artillery ??
Yes it has 5 artillery pieces.

    Mortar
    Saker
    Demi-culverin
    Culverin
    Bastard double culverin

Models and skins are from MED2 and are 90% matches of the guns used in the ECW.

It's nice to hear from a member of the Sealed Knot*. Could I ask which regiment you re-enacted with? If I still lived in the UK I'd probably think about joining. Also, if it wasn't for the regiments of the Sealed Knot and their websites, this mod could never have come to fruition.

Thank you for your offer of help. I have some research tasks that I just haven't made any progress on. The big one has been Colonel Ruthin, commander of the Parliamentarian forces in the south-west. I dearly wanted to include him in the campaign but there's litterally nothing available from an internet search.

I also lack portraits for various other commanders that I would like to add. Earl Rivers being one of those.

Lastly I've found nothing in regards to Covenanter cavalry of the period.

*For those that don't know, the Sealed knot is the English civil war re-enactment organisation.
