Please be more specific. What didn´t work?
Were you not able to uplode the zipped file?
Were you not able to extract it, and if you did, didnt know where to put it?
Were you not able to create a shortcut?

I download the mod, extract the files, then when I go to create the shortcut it doesn't allow me. If i click on it to start it in the short cut folder, it takes me into vanilla rome.

Take a look at the shortcut-properties(rightlick icon)
Mine reads:
"C:\Programme\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:chivalry -nm -show_err
I have the gold-version. If you have another version it could be like this:
"C:\Programme\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:chivalry -nm -show_err
See if that helps

Are you sure, you have opened the chivalry/shortcut folder and have not used the vanilla shortcut? There are different ways to get a proper shortcut, explained 1. in the release thread and 2. concrete related to the contained shortcuts in the chivalry shortcut folder. I have the Eras version of Total War, so I was using that one when using the short cut icon. Maybe that is the problem, should I be using the BI one? I really want to try this mod, and it doesn't help that I am somewhat of a moron (ha ha) when it comes to downloading and extracting.

Please read the release instructions again and accurate (as said, Chiv comes with its own shortscuts).

Though the shortcuts are made for the Activision folder, if you have the Creative Assembly folder, you will need to make your own shortcut, which is not hard to do.
Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

There is one (default path) shortcut included for The Creative Assembly RTW installations.
