    Icon1 The British Empire

I have seen and been through many posts and threads glimpsing and touching on this subject but not really getting to the core issues, with this thread i hope to address facts and focus tightly on this subject in question.

Feel free to comment on it as you will but please remember this is a very delicate issue so if you feel the need to post something contraversial please give back up of the post, or just leave to rant somewhere else.

I do not want to see any flaming as it just points out how pathetic and narrow minded your views are, so please confront eachother through sophisticated stylised debate not through petty bickering.

Right.. but you do realise that it has been dead for at least 11 years now (im reffering to the handover of hong kong 1997 which historians believe is the year which Britain formally lost its title as empire)

I am terribly sorry that i did not address what i wanted this thread to tackle i simply want this to be a vocal point for intelllectuals to discus the British Empire in as much detail as you wish discuss topics such as:

    .Good/Bad
    .Modern day reppercutions
    .Repairations for past treatments
    .Slave trade

these are just some of the topics you can discuss, but please remember to keep it clean no racist comments or derrgatory statements.

    .
if the UK was an empire at the point it gave back Hong Kong, it's still an empire now. it's still got Gibraltar!

In my own humble opinion, it hasn't been an empire since the second world war ...

    .Good/Bad - Not too bad.
.Modern day reppercutions - People outside Britain actually think cricket is an exciting game.
.Repairations for past treatments - Sure. Why not.
    .Slave trade -
