For a re-make I think it was very good. Bringing back westerns to popular movies, very good movie.

Movies with time-plots can be very very good if you have a good cast and you maintain the pace of that time plot. This movie did just that.

I enjoyed the movie very much. I am a big fan of westerns so I am slightly biased.

Same here, I've got dozens on dvd including the Glenn Ford original 3:10 to Yuma. I'm a Yorkshire cowboy. (In my mind)

I thought it was an excellent film, I'm a fan of Russel Crowes though anyway, so that helps.

I didn't think the ending was unpredictable. I thought the whole plot was set up to make Dan Evans (Bale) as the tragic hero and Ben Wade (Crowe) as the ruffian with a good sense of honor (even if it was a rogue's sense of honor, if that makes sense.) I kind of expected what happened to Evans and I was fairly certain that Wade wouldn't make it to Yuma. Despite that the movie flowed very well. Like I said it was a classic time plot movie. Where the characters have a limited amount of time to accomplish or stop something. In this case it was both. The law was attempting to take the bad guy to prison and the bad guy's friends were attempting to rescue him. As the movie gets closer to the end time everything moves faster and faster until the dramatic stop. This movie did an excellent job at that. Along with the interaction between Evans and Wade and how close they became at the end. Made the movie an excellent example of a modern western (even if it was a remake.)

Edit: Yorkshire cowboy! That gave me a chuckle!

Loved it, from beginning to end. Always liked Crowe and Bale, and they were perfect for the movie.

Nice film, gave me the opportunity to watch the original as well.Crowe and Bale are two of the best actors around, and Crowe is exceptionally good when he plays non modern roles(gladiator, master and commander, cinderella man, yuma).

I enjoyed it at first - perhaps the first hour or so. But it became really quite absurd at the end. The whole business of the hardened killer and robber Crowe going to such elaborate lengths to pretend to be taken to jail just for the sake of his captor's cred with his son was just plain silly. And gunning down his own crew for rescuing him - I laughed out loud. The more I thought about the movie afterward, the weaker it seemed.

yes I really did not like this movie for those exact reasons. crowe's character was just ...just...dumb. look at me, I can escape any time I wish...then I do...then I kill my own group and let myself get locked up again. WTF? its one thing to have an honorably villan but the dynamics of the movie were just retarded. I think it would have been a great movie had they just edited crowe's character a bit.

I thought it was a great movie, and great Western at that. I'm definitely a fan of both Russel Crowe and Christian Bale (was that him?) too.
