    Default The great army!

In Anno Domini 1385, in the 763th year of the Hijra, The Great Army, of the mighty Ilkhan prepared to bring havoc and destruction to the Golden Horde once and for all, finishing the job which Oljeitu khan, the Conqueror started....

If their plan succeed, the great army will make the khan to be Gür-khan, universal ruler of the Steppe Empire.

A portion of the Great Army:

This is just one part of it...I guess most of you had better armies...

What is your best army? Have you ever planned and xecuted a grand blitzkrieg like plan instead of the usual wars?

If you like playing as the IlKhanate, the Abbasids in the High campaign will turn into the Ilkhanate after the Mongol Invasion event.

My perfect armies usually consists of 1 or 2 characters, 2-4 Siculo-Norman Milites, 6-8 Siqilli Archers, 1-2 Dismounted Siculo-Norman Milites, and the rest rounded out by Italian Militia or Sergeant types, Feudal (Armoured) Sergeants being ideal.

So if I start with them I can end playing up with the ilkhans?
Or I need to start Mongol invasion event?
Will they have some difference from the Late Campaign Ilkhans?

As for armies, using western mercenaries (because you can't get a decent infantry as the ilkhan,) combined with mongol cavalry, kwarazmians, archers, rocket artillery etc you can have a kick ass army...

Basically, you start a high campaign as the Abbasids, and after th Mongol Invasion, you should be instructed to use mongol Invasion event (option 5). This will basically rename them to the Khwarazm-Ilkhaniyan (Ilkhanate).

The Cumans function in the same way. After the Mongol Invasion, they turn into the Altan Ordyn Uls (Golden Horde).

The The event should unlock the Mongols units for the Golden Horde.

Some invasion armies will also be spawned.

I would suggest playing as a large power to get used to the mod.

    But here are some hints:

    - Use free upkeep units in settlements.
    - Try not to leave characters in the field.
    - Garrison expensive units (Knights, etc...) in forts, they give free upkeep to 2 units.

There were no standing armies in the Middle Ages (Byzantium and Sicily are exceptions), so all this is intended to simulate the Feudal system.
