Well, i didn't know this until know.

So you are on the campaign map.
Double click on one of your cities.
The building browser will come up.
At the top of the page, it will have, in big letters, the name of the settlement, and then what type of settlement it is.
Hover your mouse over the name part, and then double click.
You should get one of those writing things.

You can then edit the name of the city!! And it will show up on the campaign map too!!

I gave all my cities rude names

Nothing more satisfying than sacking your most hated enemy's capital city, and re-naming it "Webreedsissys", letting it rebel and having your enemy take it back

I have heard of people changing the names of settlements but I always thought they were using mods to do it. I am going to try this in my next game.
