Although i have already permission for our mod "1237: Interregnum", i want to ask for a mod, i´m helping. The modleader Musculus Maximus do a mod "Crusades Campaign Redesigned". The mod starts between first and second crusade. So i think, they would need your komnenian roster. Can we please use your roster in this mod? Here a screenshot (ignore 1136 AD, thats vanilla):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
We gave Basilea Rhomaion the Chi-Rho, because i'm thinking the eagle would be a "official symbol" for Eastern Rome with the later dynasties, not at the early komnenian emperors.

    regards

You can use Komnenean roster to your newest project as well.
I hope that musculus and you might help us as well in the future if we will need anything.
    For the Eagle.
In fact the two headed eagle was a Komnenean symbol but as all Aquillas with one or two heads was the symbol of the Emperor's authority and presence.

    To the CBUR Project team,

Your units look outstanding and I would love to be able to use them in my little modding project I am doing. This is what I have released so far (my mod has no name really), just recently as it turns out.

Bit by bit I want to turn in into a real total conversion. Got the map done, got a few new features done, now I need some historical units!

So I would really appreciate your permission here.

    Cheers,
    Rhy

Hello. I was wondering if there was any way I could just implement this as a stand alone mod. While I'd love to have custom units for every faction, my true love is your Komnenian roster. However, I have found myself disappointed with the mods that have implemented your roster. So, I would like to implement your roster by itself into essentially the vanilla game. Maybe I could expand this to include other rosters in time and release a multiple roster mod, but I'm not going to make any plans right now. I just really want to be able to play with this roster without the game crashing every turn, having to wait forever for a turn to pass, or dealing with game breaking bugs. The mods out there are great, I am not meaning any disrespect, but they absolutely need more work.

But your Komnenian roster needs no more work. It is perfect. It just needs the perfect mod to be put into. I am not much of a modder myself, but Medieval II is easy to work with. If I could get the CBUR pack, I would do everything to learn how to implement it. Any help would be appreciated, but mainly I just want to be able to fully enjoy playing this unit roster without the problems of the mod it is within.

My friend i will try to restore the the original files but even i can not not find them you can still have access to them by downloading Stainless Steel 6.1/6.3 or mainly Rusichi 1.0/1.1.
From our side you can use them as you want!!

Okay. I guess I could sleuth through the game files I have (I've downloaded every mod your mod is in except Ruischi I believe), but I only have the slightest idea where to start. I have very little experience with Med II modding. I only know some of the basics.

Anyways, thanks for the permission! I hope you can find those files somehow. It would certainly be easier to work with the base mod.

Okay, I tried doing it with the units from Deus lo Vult. I haven't the slightest idea what I'm doing. I'll try more another day, I guess. If anyone would be willing to make such a mod that puts the Komnenian Roster in the vanilla game, I'd be very grateful. I'm sure it wouldn't take long for someone who knows what they're doing. The file system and the descr files aren't difficult to work with, but I need to learn how to do all of it. I will work with this over time and I will keep trying to put them into the game if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Any advice would be appreciated too.

By the way, do you think I might would be able to get a mod team together and make a combined mod if I asked around enough, or do you think most of the community has moved on from Med II for me to be able to get such a mod made? Like I said before, my primary goal is just to get this roster in the game, but if I had some help, I would like to put similar rosters in for each faction. But I realize I won't be able to do such a thing alone and I will need to look around and ask permission from many people to use their work.

You have to unpack the game.

Then you'll find the files in D:\SEGA\Medieval 2 Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\unit_models\_units\byzantine_roster, and you will have to replace the Byzantine files in the Vanilla folder with these ones.

Is that really all I have to do? I've gotten as far as unpacking the vanilla files and finding that folder in the mods, not just in Stainless Steel, but Deus lo Vult and Ruischi as well (I downloaded that mod that other day). Okay, I understand. But I want to do a bit more than replace only the models and textures. I've found the unit cards as well, and where the description for them is in the export_descr_unit file, among other things. But after finding everything, I'm just not sure how to put it all together. I'll do what you said, though. Just to see that much success will be nice. But I definitely want to edit deeper than that. For example, most mods do a good job on balancing the Varangian guard, whereas in the vanilla game, they are unbeatable supermen (literally, try beating a full army composed only of them). Anyways, thanks for the advice. I will try this out.

Okay, I think I am getting how to do it, even in the export_descr_unit file. I needed mounts and attachmentsets too to make everything work just right. I still want to do more with it (put in the cards and unit descriptions), but I'll figure it out over time. The only problem I might have is I don't want to unwittingly use Ruischi's work without their permission. Of course, it won't matter so long as I'm not releasing a mod, but if I did, I'd probably want to use their units anyways. I'll have to ask them which is their work and which is CBUR for the mounts (the textures are obvious, but not so much for the meshes).

Yeah, I definitely need to do more than replace the files. The textures aren't taking. The Varangian Guard look quite funky. Hehe. I need to find where the byzantine textures get applied in the vanilla game, or how to apply new textures. Because only two files are in unit_models\_units\es_greek_greek_heavy\textures. I imagine I need to edit what texture file is used in one of the descr files, because if I start replacing textures in other folders, then the Byzantine units wont be the only ones changed. Sure was cool seeing them changed to a degree though. The Kataphractoi with the Scholaroi meshes but Kataphracoi textures worked fine. I already changed the mounts, and those are working perfectly, so no vanilla Byzantine mounts.

Also, we might want to move some of this to a new thread, and maybe combine some of my posts. I hate to double post, but I am seeing no option to edit my posts. I could just start a new thread somewhere else if you would want it. We could call it Reverse Engineering CBUR. Hehe.

Okay, so I've figured out almost everything now (how to put these in as new units, change meshes, descriptions, etc) except for the textures. I need to figure out the weapons and shields too, but that looks easy. Right now, I can't figure out how to assign a new texture to a given unit. For example, I've changed the Kataphractoi to the Scholarii mesh, but not the Scholarii texture. The texture doesn't seem to be assigned in the export_descr_unit file, so it must be assigned somewhere else. I'm looking online right now to see if I can find out where. I'll look around the folders and files more too.

Okay, I found where to assign textures. battle_models Wow. That is one... disorganized... file...... But I know how to do this now. Anyways, thanks. I will post the results when I'm finished, and I'll ask for more help if I need it. I might need help with attachmentsets, but I think I can figure it out myself. If I can pull this off, then I may just make my own mod. It'd be simple, but I think people are fine with simple so long as the units look great.

So I got everything working for the Scholarii, the Contaratoi, and the Scoutatoi. But as soon as I put in the Scoutatoi Swordsmen, everything stopped working, even after I undid my work. So I have to start over. Fortunately I had backups so it won't be from scratch. I was working with Rusichi's CBUR units. I think I will work with Deus lo Vult's now instead. Anyways, now that I have familiarized myself with modding all of this in, I am greenlighting my project to make a combined unit roster mod. CBUR will be the main focus, but I want good units for other factions too.

My friend these models are not yet released.
They are part (1st half) of TGC Roman Armies.
TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.

    Permision granded.
You can either download unit models and textures from here: http://dfiles.eu/files/98o9cjq7h?redirect
Or use Siadhail's Kingdoms version for vanilla Kingdoms from here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downl...o=file&id=4100
In both cases Credits must be incuded.

The newer models though are not available yet because they are not finished.

That's right, I took these models from Ferrum Aeternum mod. And I know nothing about new unfinished models, I just saw some byzantine models in Bulat Steel mod from russian community. Are they same units as you mean not to use?
