    Default So whicg one is better?

    first of all im a complete noob at modding so sorry for my noob questions but don't worry, easy question for you guys.

    I am having CTD a lot but don't get any help in the system log. so i looked it up and noticed this:
    [log]
    to = logs/system.log.txt
    ;level = * trace
    level = * error

    what does "level = * trace" mean
    and what does "level = * error" mean.

    as you can see level = * trace is switched off. should i turn it on? would it tell me why i am getting CTD?
    thanks for helping

    Long explanation:
    The "level" property is a filter, much like the ones used by Windows search functions. "*trace" means "show me all log statements with the 'trace' in them." "*error" means "show me all log statements with 'error' in them. Each log statement has a type; always, error, warning, or trace. These filters will display only errors of the given type, because the words "always", "error", "warning", and "trace" are included in the log statements of the given type.

    Short Answer:
    "level = *error" shows you only the errors. If something goes wrong and the game engine cannot continue to run, an error message is logged.
    "level = * trace" shows you all log output. It will show information which might not constitute an error within itself (such as "file not found, using default data"), but might help in determining the reason of an error.

    Trace gives you a lot of extra information, but sometimes you need to see this information. I prefer to leave trace on all of the time.
