    Default Recruitment Styles

I'm interested in views about which is better; RTW or MTW2's recruitment systems.

On the one hand, RTW allows one unit slot to be recruited each turn (though some take 2 turns or more to recruit, natch), but an unlimited number of units of each type. So you could, in theory, recruit endless types of each unit.
Also, you have the population being subtracted equal to the size of the unit being recruited, which seems to make sense to me.

On the other, MTW allows more recruitment based on the size of the settlement, but only a certain number of each unit, and they slowly recharge over time. Because of the longer timeframe and the larger variety of units, this isn't too much of a problem. Also, the population is not subtracted per unit.

So what's your favourite? Personally, I prefer MTW 2, though the simpler RTW system does have advantages.

I much prefer M2TW, it placed more strategic importance on advanced towns. With the RTW system, losing one city wouldn't hamper you too much, but with M2TW losing that city can compromise the defence of the whole region.

I remember in RTW, the central Greek cities were my production base, I could get full stacks of a balanced composition out of there every 6 turns. I made a standard Legion model! All my armies contained that, it was balanced to fare well against most opponents.

In conclusion: I like M2TWs method, makes your advanced cities/castles more valuable to you.

I agree totally. I played vanilla as Macedon the other day and had 2 full stacks ready within just 5 years.
