Enjoy the break. What do you intend to see in each of these countries (if you have time that is)?

This time last year I was on a drivnig holiday from Sunbury to Lecco via Assen for the Champcar race there. It felt like it rained all the way from Calais to Assen. I saw a number of interesting roads around Antwerp as I got lost round the road system there. The stretch of road near Arnhem was like a striaght stretch of the M25 with similar traffic levels. When I arrived in Assen I found that the 'D' road to the hotel was closed and had to find an alternate way.

After Assen I headed through Germany towards Munich with the intention of staying a hotel near Mad King Ludwig's castle. It started to rain heavily as I passed the Frankfurt area. The Germans don't slow down in the rain and don't leave any more space between cars. There was heavy roadworks on the entry to Munich and I ended up driving around Munich and giving up and driving towards Salzburg and finding a hotel. In the morning I switched on the TV to find it had been snowing around the Tyrol area. I was due to stop at Bertchesgarten. I made it there OK but it just seemed to continue raining. This put a stop to any thought of havng a look at the Eagles Nest due to the very low cloud cover.

I headed off to Italy vias the Brenner Pass to find it had been snowng up there. The southern side into italy was sunny and warm. There was a very long traffic jam between Brescia and Bergamo but I made it to Lecco OK.

I drove up to Stelvio to find that at the very top it had snowed.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Monza was enjoyable for the F1 and it was a simple drive back to London via Strasbourg. I drove through Como around 7:30am and was in Calais at 7pm. I caught the ferry across the channel and was home in Sunbury by 11pm.....

Yes, a SatNav could have been useful on that trip but I still haven't bought one....
