Default Attempt of "Constitutional Coup" in Ukraine

I didn't found related thread so I created this one.

Some sources which I could find on the topic:
    http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/...e-Politics.php
    http://www.inthenews.co.uk/news/inte...t-$1239070.htm

What do you think about that? Return of Ukraine to Russian sphere of influence? Someone could clarify this to me, what happened?

it looks democratic to me, so the word "coup" is a bit misleading i think. the president and the PM don't like each other, if it comes to new elections the PM will win. All legit AFAIK.

The president is a clown, who doesn't deserve his position.

But weren't they in coalition (Their political parties)? So why did Tymoshenko's party changed sides?

it was a monster coalition - tymoshenko was always pro-kremlin, yushenko always pro-west. as politician go, they were able to put aside principle for power and work together. tymoshenko's party didn't really change sides, they were opposing each other from the beginning.

He's got a tough job, Yuschenko does. Not as tough as Musharaf had it, but damn tough.

Well Russia doesn't exactly respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries (It hasn't in the past either)

Well {insert a name of any major player on a political scene} doesn't exactly respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries (It hasn't in the past either)...

No, I don´t think that Ukraine would be a good thing for Russia to have in its borders. But a Ukraine not ostensibly hostile to Russia would be very nice indeed. Without constant bickering about everything starting from gas prices to the Black Sea Fleet status.

    1) there is no coup.
    2) Americans seem to have no such moral dilemma as soon as it comes to Orange or Rose revolutions, with main goals for these countries to join NATO. why do you expect us to be any different?
    3) define "to join" Russia.

    1. If there was
    2. I'm not American and never agreed with their policy and I don't support Georgia.
    3. Either annexation or Political union.

so, in other words, you question would be "if Russians managed to orchestrate a coup and make it possible for Ukrainian govt to want to join Russian Federation, would I support it?"

I think the problem with your question is that there is too many "ifs" in your sentance . I dont think it is possible. just as it is impossible to stage a coup and re-unite Russia and Kazakhstan, for example.

and to answer your question, I am definitely in favor of political union and against annexation. annexation in general is a bad word, it implies a violent take over and emposing your will on people against their wish.

Political union if it was the will of the Ukrainian people and not a coup as is hinted at..
