Command only good for Auto-Resolve?

Or have I gotten it all wrong? What else does command do than give you a higher chance to win auto-resolved battles? Nowadays I only auto-resolve as my generals win all battles without losing more than 50 or 100 men, if I played them myself it would problem be even. So is command good for anything but auto-resolving? Same goes for chivalry, what exactly does it do? I really want to start actually playing my campaign battles again but I'm not half the commander my generals are.

Yeah, command raises morale overall, meaning a dreadful, brilliant commander is almost unstoppable.

Command is very important, obviously. If you have 10 command your soldiers will almost never route, and if you have full chivalry.. Yeah Goodluck to the enemy!

Now theres a problem, if your general dies its a harder hit to your forces and they'll almost all instantly flee, so watch out.

high chivalry or dread have big impacts on towns and castles.
They change population happiness etc.
