Default Fred Thompson what could have been...

If anyone saw Fred Thompson's speech at the RNC I have to ask if you are as dissapointed as I am that he isnt our guy....

He doesn give a flowery oration.... what you get from him is a powerful, direct, and uncomprimising political energy... He is a brilliant man...he is a strong conservative... and he isnt afraid to say what he thinks.... His speech was a reminder to me of what could have been if he was the Republican Nominee....

I was a Thompson supporter, and I still am.... Since he cant be Pres...or the VP...I sincerely hope he gets a high level cabinate position...talent like his shouldnt be wasted.....

And if he gets snubbed...all I can say is if there is a just God....we'll see Thompson in 2012....

I like thompson alot, always have and wished he could do better. But the guy doesn't want it and I want a president that will do the job as much as I want one that I agree with,
Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

Well commented in the election thread, Fred definitely had energy and gave a great speech (yeah to hell with you Keith Olberman) but I wouldnt take him as a President since he seems to lose interest in things. Look at the horrible campaign he ran where he seemed to simply not care. Tonight however he was alert and did a good job for the role he was picked to fill.

Um no That's Jack Thompson and no relation to Fred. Look up Fred Thompson and you'll probably know who he is since he was an actor.

Haha way to go Newt...if only Newt didnt suffer from egomania when actually held power. I love MSNBC coverage, its probably same feel more left leaning viewers get when they watch Fox.

It was a good speech. Democrats really need to learn how to use humor, more. If Fred Thompson would have put that much energy and wit into his own campaign he would have won. I do believe though, that he really did'nt want to win.

I disagree... its not that he didnt want to win....its that he simply couldnt... by the time the states he would have dominated in came in the lineup...McCain was so far ahead...and with Romney's states he just couldnt do anything...

That bieng that case...I dont blame him for only going at half energy.... its not like he went toe to toe with McCain then in May said "screw it..Im tired Im gonna go take a nap"

I think that if he ran again in 2012... especially he if can get more public attention...(why I want him to get a high ranking cabinet office) he would have the support and populatiry to win the key early states...and he would easily take the nomination and the presidency...

It was a superbly delivered speech.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

Joe is giving a pretty good speech too imo...definitely playing the middle ground/moderate cant we all get along stuff. Ouch way to go Joe....comparing Obama to Bill at RNC and highlighting how Barrack fails to live up to what Clinton did...that had to sting for anyone in Obama campaign watching. Pretty smart move there.

    Yeah, good speeches by both.

8 years ago, Joe was the Dem's pick for VP, now, since he's stood by his convictions, he is basically an outcast in his own party. His own loyalty to his party is impressive, all things considered. But it does tend to give powerful voice to his feeling that McCain is the best choice for President this election.

Yes, I listened to Fred Thompson's speech and I was very impressed. I really like him, and he was my first choice for the presidency ever since the campaign began.

Thompson gave a good speech but Joe's was killer for a former democratic vp nominee!

They're not the best investment these days from a long term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward. They're in the housing market. I do think their prospects going forward are very solid."

I lol'd at Fred's speech esp. about McCains mother

H/w what Joe Lieberman did was amazing. I live in Connecticut i know for sure all democrats hate him. He had to run as an independent just b/c he is a hawk

That Bill Clinton thing was a stinger, I wondered for a couple secs why he said it Then i said to myself "Burn"

Basically Joe has destroyed his reputation as a Democrat to support his friend who he believes will run aemrica the way it should be. I have respect for Lieberman

Honestly, I'm not sure how to value your opinions since 33% of Democrats voted for Liebermann in 2006. At least some Democrats valued a man who stuck to his convictions, as opposed to sticking his finger in the wind and going with the flow. Since you "live in Connecticut", I'd of assumed you'd know about his level of support.....
