French Cavalry

Ok so im really liking France's description as the best heavy cavalry power in the west but in all the test runs with all the varieties of their different knights they get stomped by mongol heavy cav, gothic knights, imp knights

hell they even get destroyed by english knights who in my understanding were supposed to have poor cav at least according to their official strengths/weaknesses description

and btw gothic knights win against everything i've fought so wouldnt this mean the HRE is the best heavy cav power in the west? and France is just pretty good?

and why is france the only catholic nation besides england and scotland(to my knowledge) with no buildable horse archers in grand campaign game (just curious)

(all tests were performed on grassy plain map)

Gothic Knights has maces.

Maces are the "I win" of armor duels.

PS: Cavalry isn't meant to fight other cavalry one on one, but rather to retreat charge on infantry

ah but doesn't that mean gothic knights are better overall because they also have the same charge value and also win cav duels

edit- what is supposedly the best heavy cav overall cause the french lancer description implies they are

I personally think the French Lancer is the best overall, but they do have enormous training and upkeep fees.

The portuguese and spanish conquistador is extremely powerful as well, but (forgive me if im wrong) it does have a pretty crappy charge value.

Btw, the french do have HAs, i think they're called French Mounted Archers or something? idk, but i know they wiled the english longbow. and maybe they have a mounted crossbow unit as well, i'll have to check.

Remember, the description of the England faction is "poor variety of cavalry" which means "you get light or super-heavy, take your pick".

IIRC the russians have the strongest cavalry unit, in terms of cav vs cav that is.

Actually they are Northern European. But I guess you could call them Western European. (The HRE contains modern-day Germany, so would you consider Germany Wester-European?)
