Default Kremlin Critic Shot Dead by Russian Police

    http://english.hotnews.ro/stiri-regi...ian-police.htm
The owner of a website in Ingushetia, known for his criticism against the regime in Kremlin, was shot to death on Sunday, shortly after being detained by the Russian Police, The Independent informs. Magomed Yevloyev, owner of www.ingushetiya.ru was a renowned journalist and critic of the way Russia manages the Ingushetia region. On Sunday, the Police took Yevloyev into custody as he was stepping out of an airplane coming from Moscow to Nazran, the Ingushetia capital. Shortly after the departure, the journalist was shot in the head. "They threw his body near the hospital", said Kaloi Akhilgov, a lawyer for the website, according to Reuters.

Magomed Yevloyev is one of the most high-profile journalists to be killed in Russia since investigative reporter Anna Politkovskaya was shot dead near her Moscow apartment in 2006, provoking condemnation of Russia's record on media freedom.
Honestly, given that this is Russia we're talking about, is this even news? It would be news if something like this didn't happen in Russia!

Best part of story -- when the body was discovered after being dumped into a rural area, the police issued a statement that the shooting was an accident as the journalist reached for the weapon. No explanation as to how or why he was dumped if it was not an execution. Why bother with a lie when it is this bad? Might as well say it was a self inflicted wound while escaping.

At least our Rus-mob on the Mudpit is right when they say the Russian Federation is not the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union sent its dissidents to die slowly in Gulags in Siberia; the Russian Federation seems more efficient.

As far as I know, only Tajikistan shares the honor of having a wikipedia page necessary to feature it's killed reporters.
