Default [LoTR AAR] The Fires Of Isengard

Alright, I'm making a AAR using The Lord Of The Rings Total War mod. I was inspired a bit by Kallum, seeing his good Lord Of The Rings AAR.

The fires of Isengard are spreading, destroying everything in its path.

Saruman, searching the one ring sended his most trusted servant Lurtz to seek for the halfling bearing the one ring. He and his army then engaged Boromir, stopping Lurtz in his path, he engaged Boromir but he was well prepared, he killed Lurtz and his entire army all by himself, the remaining part of his army fled north in dispair.

And meanwhile officer Ugluk marched west, pillaging the lands of Rohan, on his way to the city of Entwade, as capturing it meant holding up reinforcements of Rohan.

And then Mauhur, Sarumans most trusted servant after Lurtz was send to capture the Foldburg, killing Theodred, son of King Theoden in the proces. The Foldburg burned, as the city was pillaged, and every human inside was killed and we feasted on thier flesh.

Grima was then send to the Dundenlings, and with the convincing powers of Saruman he was able to confince them in attacking Rohan. They were just pawns, as we would conquer their lands in time.

    More to come soon.

Well, looks nice but I would change a couple of things. First, your screenies are huge in comparison to the amount of text between them. You can decrease the size of the screens and write more, that looks better.
Also, you might want to use a different font, the standard one isn't really nice for aar's. Easy to read but not really good-looking, in my opinion.
    Hope it helps.
Every time you , god kills another kitten.
If you're gonna hire Machete to kill the bad guy, you better make damn sure the bad guy isn't YOU!

Yeah my screenies are a bit big. And what do you mean with font? Never really heard of the word. But I gues this is a bit better:

    Anyways, for now I'll continue:

The battle for Rohan was about to start as Isengard has been unleashed.

And meanwhile the horde of Ugluk reached its destination. The city would soon fall before the White Hand.

The horde, sent from Isengard met up with the horde which destroyed the Foldburg, creating a deadly force, as it marched to Helmsdeep, the main stronghold of the people of Rohan.

The people of Entwade sallied forward, to face the Uruk onslaught which was besieging it, led by Erkenbrand.

The battle started with Rohan levies marching forward.

But they would soon regret it after a hail of arrows and seeing the Uruk onslaught up close.

But soon we saw that it was a trick from Erkenbrand as he came charging down our flank with his Rohirrim.

The Rohirrim fought bravely but they were no match for the White Hand. The city was captured.

Thanks for the replies, and as most people seem to like the full ones, I'll probably continue that way.

Meanwhile, the survivors who fought Boromir fled north and were on there way back to Isengard, but they were attacked. By Gandalf the White, and Eomer.

Leading the Rohirrim was Gandalf the White. Little that we know that he came to search for Eomer to save Rohan. But it would not matter, Helmsdeep would fall and with it the rest of Rohan.

And so Gandalf and his bodyguards charged, but we would fight to the death, for the White Hand!

The White Wizard killed many by himself, Eomer was already coming from accros the river bed, but it was not needed.

In the end we lost, and only 1 filthy orc lived to tell the tale to our master.

But it didn't matter, as Entwade was ours, but our Scouts reported a dwarf, nearing Entwade.

To be continued, or is it?

    Alright, lets continue the story.

Our army marches forward and besieges Helmsdeep, we shall have our human flesh soon enough!

We were preparing our machines of war when we smelt something, human flesh, we were suprised as they sallied forward, backed up only by several armies. How foolish these humans have become.

We deployed our army on the field, ready to destroy these humans. Rohan would fall just as our master predicted.

The enemy approached and we had been underestimated as these humans thinking we were easy prey.

As they approached our army opened fire, killing many humans.

After that we charged, killing as much as possible humans, as we have been waiting for human flesh for weeks.

Once we were under fire ourself we sended out our warg riders to take care of the archers.

    The slaughter of humans continued.

    Any survivors were hunted down.

Then came their second army, led by the general Gamling.

The horselords charged our army headon, hoping to break our army from the front.

They fought untill finally their general fell before our weapons.

After killing what was left of them we charged the third army, we charges recklessly, no matter whether we were tired or not, as the White Hand commands us to do so.

It was just a matter of time before these cowardly humans would run as well before the power of Isengard!

Then came their last army, if we would win then Helmsdeep would be ours for sure.

Their horses then persued our Warg riders, leaving their outnumbered infantry alone.

They were ofcourse, cut down to the last men.

And after a small confrontation with our Wargs the foolishly or bravely Rohirrim marched towards our army.

    Then our Wargs charged them.

They were killed to the last man, victory was ours!

After the battle we entered Helmsdeep without any resistance, we entered the caves and killed every human we found, woman and child. Just as our master commanded us to do.

We then raised the banner of the White hand over the once proud city of Rohan.

Rohirrim soldiers led by a royal member of Rohan appeared next to Entwade, yet little did he know that he was to late, Helmsdeep has fallen.

    To be continued.

Very good job, massive battle reports, although you could crop the pictures (cut the battle UI), and as Selifator said use a different font. You could also add a little bit more text description, as the theme (LoTR) itself enables massive role-playing as well. We would love to read some drama, treachery, struggle for power or making one or another faction ridiculous by describing their flimsy habits or inferior architecture/military. Just some ideas... but you're doing well so far.

    Try minimising the UI:

In your Rome folder, there should a "preferences" folder. Open this one and open the file "preferences.txt".

For no banners find or add this line:

    SHOW_BANNERS:FALSE

    for the green arrows

    DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:TRUE

    for the Minimized Interface

    MINIMAL_UI:TRUE

Then in Battle, press f5,f6,f7,f8 to disable/enable the other windows.

I personally enable them during battles, and disable them for screenshots.
Although this may disappoint some people, I am indeed alive, I just went inactive for three years.

Good battle pictures and good tone for the report (nice Uruk-Hai flavour to it).

It would be nice to have more story to establish the character of your generals and their opponents.

Is Saruman going to tell us anything about his plans? Villains traditionally explain their entire plan to a captured hero so that brave (or foolhardy) fellow has a chance to escape and add a bit of excitement to the denouement.
