Removing Missions and Events
Ave all,
I've solved the problem mentioned on Page 2 about a video memory overload, it turned out to be a combination of some of what others had been saying, and some of what is just downright silly coding by CA. I'll get around to writing a short tutorial on how to clean up the descr_models_strat as a supplementary to alpaca's stripped down folder later.
Anyways, on to the new predicament, removing the papal missions. I don't think there will necessarily be a problem with removing the papal missions, but I'm curious to know if anyone has done it before, and whether anyone knows all of the files the missions are referenced in. Obviously there's "descr_missions.txt", and "missions.txt" in the Text files, and I also seem to see some lines in "strat.txt" and "expanded.txt" in the Text files. Are there any other places than those where the papal missions would be referenced? Also, what if any lines in missions.txt are linked to parts of the hardcode(in the same vein as generic_repair in export_buildings.txt)?
Have seen this tutorial: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=81256 and skimmed it a bit, no time to read it all at this moment, but I imagine it contains most of the answers to the above.
On another note, does anyone know things along the same lines, for blanking the events? Are there any good tutorials out there on events? From what I can tell they're used in:
data
descr_event_enums.txt
descr_event_images.txt
message_text_lookup.txt
data/text
historic_events.txt
event_titles.txt
event_strings.txt
data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign
descr_events.txt
I'm trying to remove all available traces of the vanilla game, and keep running into areas where it looks like most people just took the vanilla code and added on to it. any help with blanking the missions and events is appreciated. I will of course be stabbing around myself, but wanted to see if anyone knew about ways of doing this or were interested in achieving the same effect.
Also, I'm curious as to which, if any, of the enums files are still used. The units_enums and rebel_factions_enums both have Rome information in them contradictory to their reference files. Some of the others have the right info, but have never heard of a problem that was solved by adding an entry to an enums file. The closest thing to it is the descr_regions_and_settlement_names_lookup.txt file, which is needed for region changes. Is it possible the _lookup files are the only ones needed, and the enums are defunct?
Cheers,
Augustus
