Well, i've unistalled Rome (agin) for bug reasons. But when I try to reinstall it, it gets halfway and gives me this -
FEATURE TRANSFER DATA
componets: Data
file: D:data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic reduncy check)

I guess this was an error occurs when the data can not be read from the disc.
But I'm not very into this stuff, I might be wrong too.
Most common reason. Did you clean your disc? How scratched up isi it?
Can you install the game on another computer with it? Mine are as old as the game release. They might be beyond the "worked before" point and need to be replaced.
Ive had a similiar problem when I tried installing on my cousins comp.
Just renew the disc or check your computers disk drive.
We Came, We Saw, We Ran Away!
Download CDCheck and run it on the problem disc, and it will install fine AP.

Yeah, this happened to me (same error), and I found out it was that the computer I was installing on, which I had never installed RTW on before, had a disc drive that was way to slow.
Formerly Tyrtaeus
I have a beautiful old rpg game (Arcanum) which I can't istall anymore, just because of that same problem. (Don't lend your CDs to anyone I'm telling you, They're most likely to return scratched or damaged.)
A.P were you able to fix this problem I have the same thing happening and can't fix it. Can you let me know how you took care of it.
I have tried it irishron and it keeps giving me the same result. That is why i'm asking. And why is it that if people don't have the answer to the question they always have a smart thing to say. I thought you were suppoused to help each other. Is this cdcheck suppoused to fix the problem because all it's doing is telling me what the problem and I know that already.
In your very first post you complained that no-one was helping you or that we couldn't help you fix whatever problem you had.
We rely on you giving us symptoms of what is wrong. If you supply wrong or misleading information then the advice we can give is compromised. In your posts you've claimed that you have the same problem - that is all we know.
We are only users of the same software that you are trying to run. We are trying to help based on the experience we have in similar situations.
Now....
1) Do you own an original copy of RTW?
2) What version of the game do you have?
3) Is any surface of a disc scratched or not clean?
4) Can you use the disc to install on a different PC?

I do own an original copy. I have RTW gold edition. The disc is in good condition. I can intall the disc in my old PC. I'm getting the same error A.P it's getting. Thank you for your help.
I have no been able to solve it yet. I'll try reinstalling tommorw but i've been pretty buisy latley.
the problem will either be the cd or dvd/cd-rom
the cd full of scratches solution scratch remover
or
dvd/cd-rom lots of dust solution clean it
or
dvd/cd-rom has slow speed solution buy a new one
External dvds with usb connections cause crc errors, also.
