Default Post your massive battles in SPQR HERE!

    Hey people,

I want to see your battles worth of rememberance here! Have you fought any crucial and massive battles with gazzilions of soldiers recently? Have you been forced into battle with immersive numbers of enemies or against much stronger army - and you still were able to win? Or at least you took many of those bastards with you? This is the place for you to post your screenies here and share your feelings, maybe little AAR if you wish. To share your tactical experience and strategic knowledge! Im vying for your posts!

But before it all begins, as the one who starts this topic I would like, if any possible, to postulate something like "rules" for posting into this forum, to keep it serious and on certain level.

    1) Please post only relevant battles, where AI is not in considerable disadvantage. Winning killing thousands while loosing a few soldiers in bridge or mountain battle shows no strategic or tactical knowledge - and therefore Im not interested in it. Therefore: NO BRIDGE OR SLOPE BATTLES! Please.

    2) If you post screenies, try to post also the screenshot with final screen (result scroll etc.). This one shouldt be BY ANY MEANS modified, cut or whatever. There should be EVERYTHING visible - unit cards of your army, minimap, battlefield and also, most importantly, the final result scroll.

    3) This is not so serious rule, but it still should be obeyed. Please try to pick only battles where you stood against some real and serious threat, which forced you to employ tactics, to do the best you can to win. Winning against 8000 thousand of levy pikemen lead by captains with the preatorian legion lead by your best general is nothing that would astonish me, so I bet you understand this type of battle is nothing for this topic.

    4) For somewhat civilised and "standardised" look of the topic please try to post your screenies in 1024x768. If you have no experience with this, try www.imageshack.us and pick "resize" option, for instance.

Here we go then, let me start with an example:

What is most funny about this is the fact that Amulius Julius, one of my best generals, desserted the very next turn. Lol!

Ad Valerius - Thx for sharing my sorrow mate Im actually in quite difficult situation now in my campaign, being attacked from ALL directions - Germans, Thracians, Greeks, Gauls, Macedonians (they have the last city though). Especially Germans are tough, they have taken Castra from me recently, completely wiped out Dacia and are really awesome, I fight two or three battles with them every turn. But thats offtopic...

Ad Hesus - I checked a few lists back, but didnt find anything, I bet there is one somewhere, its not an original idea, but I didnt want to spend long hours digging for it...

Ad Echo - Firstly, check flags - they are not Gauls, but Macedonians.
    -insulting, deleted by Valerius Tiberius-

And now, please, back on topic, post YOUR battles NOW

Okay, I will add one my leader have fought recently when he besieged Naupactus. Greeks sent against me mostly armoured hoplites combined with sword hoplites with archers. That would be fine but they also had three units of Spartan hoplites and that was tough and bloody - you can see that red patch with their flag somewhere in lower part of one of these screenies:

And now I want to see yours guys! Im finally able to rep you, so show me stg worth of it

Ad Echo - Firstly, check flags - they are not Gauls, but Macedonians. Secondly, accusing someone immediately.
Okay I will conceed the first one is my mistake.

Secondly I did not accuse you of anything.
Sorry but I find something a little fishy..
That is more curiosity than an accusation. I did not accuse you of cheating or breaking any house rules.

Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe its true, or because they're afraid it might be true. Peoples' heads are full of knowledge, facts and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

I used alot of artillery to destroy the phalanx and had enough spearmen to counter the cavalry.

Ad Hesus - awesome, mate, I can only dream about crushing Hannibal this way, I needed two legions and still lost some 1000 men. Pretty good indeed! How did you do that? Secret? Looks like town defence, you crushed his elephants in streets of Paestum I bet, ey? Never take the armor to the streets, old and still valid maxim...

Ad CZEPowerslave - nice battle, really nice (custom?), very high losses though, against Gauls I wouldnt expect that much, but on the other hand you cant control all armies, so you cant be made responsible for those losses. BTW, Im czech myself (didnt want to write you in czech though, this is the english forum after all) and I would never play my RTW in localized czech version, its so...well, lets say I prefer english

Ad Gennosuke43 - HOLY...hand grenade! What the hell is this? Truly awesome, but looks more like vanilla, or is it one of the elder SPQR versions? I dont recognise those flags...What were those seleucid armies consisting of, looks like some nice levy pikemen massacre

Marcus - well, if you face three Gaul armies with pre-marius fresh legions without any real chevron experience, its pretty hard, approx 19320 soldiers !! on the battlefield, it tends to be bit laggy, and heck, I have won extreme victory, if you count in fact, that the weakest legion mentioned in my picture is actually town watch and few velites.
And its not a custom battle, fought somewhere bout 192 BC in north of Italy against Gallic invaders.

Ad Valerius - ok, fair enough...I didnt want to spoil my own topic, but nonetheless, he started and I dont let anyone to insult me. However, I consider it over now...

Ad Powerslave - I must envy, Ive always dreamt about such a huge battle, but were never lucky enough to get one. My biggest battle was at the second or third turn: Quintus Julius+Flavius Julius+garrison vs. Hannibal+some carthaginian captain with 1000 men. However, I see that you use lots of mercenary units, must be quite costy, isnt it? Whatever, my greatest point of interest is - did anyone of your side AI lead generals survive? Im always afraid to start a battle with my family member lead by AI, because that means almost certain death, lol...

Ive checked my SPQR campaign tracking, battle happened in 194 BC and from what I can tell, it seems that only the first leader survived, while second died for sure, funnily it was his first year in command. As for the garrison leader, not sure about his fate, but id say he died as well.

For mercenaries - money isnt really big deal in SPQR, and when I get depleted, I use mercenaries to replace the losses...

Well, concerning money, Im always trying to stay below 100.000 bucks, as if you have more, your governors start to receive some very odd and nasty traits...Its somewhat difficult, so Im bribing enemy army to get my budget low and also Im contributing to loosing factions, to keep them alive as long as possible...For now, its Pontus. However, i gave for instance Dacia like 250.000 in four years, still they had no chance against germanic military machine

    Okay, back on topic:
