Default Vista, DirectX and .Net framework

I've been rooting around the MII:TW Technical Help forum - tons of useful stuff in there and come across references to problems people are having with MII:TW / Kingdoms regarding DirectX and .Net framework.

Can people who have Vista and got the prog to work (including mods like SS) let us know which versions of DirectX you have and which versions of .Net framework.

What I've read suggestions that some people (but not necessarily everyone) has versions of Vista with versions of DirectX and .Net framework which aren't working with MII:TW.

As I don't have Vista it seems a bit confusing so can people let us know which versions of DirectX 10 work with MII:TW (or do you need to install a patch or summat??) and whether your version of Vista only has .Net Framework 1.1 (I understand 1.2 in minimum, 2.0 or higher for preference.)

Or is that no longer applicable?

I have vista64 with directX 10 and I think .net v 2.0 and all works fine.

    umm which version of Vista?

There's Vista Home Basic, Vista Home Premium, Vista Business and Vista Ultimate
(are they all available in 64 bit flavas?)

I have vista 64 ultimate, although in terms of directX and .net framework I don't think it matters too much as they don't rely on different versions.
I think .net v3.0 is out and about and is (allegedly) backwards compatible with 2.0.
    Hope that helps

You should update to DirectX 10.1.

...if you have a recent ATI/AMD card as Nvidia only supports up to 10.0

(not that anyone could notice any difference even if the game supported it)

Probably also a good idea to keep your graphics card drivers up to date with the latest certified releases.

Hopefully nVidia have got their Vista drivers sorted out now ?

Both Ati/Amd and Nvidia drivers are fine for vista, dual card setups (SLI/crossfire) are still a bit hit and miss depending on the game but are improving all the time.

Oddly enough, I found the 64bit Vista more stable and responsive than the 32bit. I had the 32 bit on my desktop but wasn't happy with it. Went back to XP Pro. The laptop with 64bit Vista has been great.
