    Default Dismounted Ritterbruder In M2TW?

    Hey guy, I'm quite new to modding and I just really want to play with the Dismounted Ritterbruder in MTW, but I have one hell of a time trying to get it to work. England is the country i would prefer to play as and I havent been able to get it to work as a merc or recruiting. I just discovered the modeldb file and i think that is where the main problem is. I'm not sure what part of the code to transfer from the Teutonic campaign, where to put it, or even if i have all of the needed files transfered from the teutonic folder . I apologize for my ignorance in this situation, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    There are tutorials that detail how to add another faction's units units to any faction. Have a read through those and you should get an idea of what you need to do

    I have already read many tutorials on this site and on others, but the problem continues. I made the thread hoping to find another person who had done it already or anyone who could offer any further assistance, is that not what this part of the forum is for? But thank you for the suggestion

    I started off using the search function in windows to search through the crusades folder and copied everything across to my mod folder that was relevent. That still leaves you a lot to do with text files unfortunatly.

    This should be more or less what you are after. You might also find it easier to download a formated battlemodels.db file, you can get that around here somewhere to.

    Thanks for the help. Thats what i had originally done but when i viewed the modeldb file it had other files with it that i hadnt copied. Here is the code i think goes with it:

    Thats all of it I think, I followed the Greek fire tut well enough but had a few probs at first. Check out my reply at post 27, the spoiler has all the extra's I needed to add to get the complete and perfect unit.

    Thats good the other tut i was looking at (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=77323) and the decimal numbers flipped and they were instead at the beginning of the code.

    this is a much more complicated process than i originally thought it would be.

    that adds the model to HRE, change 3 HRE to 7ENGLAND

    next go to export_descr_unit (EDU) and copy the dismounted_ritter into ur mod folders's EDU at the bottem and make sure u change the faction owner ship to England only

    Next you gotta open up the eport_descr_buildings (EDB) and add the dismounted_ritter to oh ya kings stables with england.

    make sure in the mymod/data/models/ you have the .mesh for the dismounted ritters and you also need there attachment .mesh (teutonic special head or some )

    you WILL run into trouble making the ritters having england colours, so make sure in the model.db entry (that list ontop) you dont change the code that says teutonic in the texture lines, just the 3 HRE, to 7 England (should be 4 times)

    Wow, i think im in thank you.

    Just to make sure, where do the models go? in my teutonic data folder at that location? or the MTW data folder? I appreciate the help

    I wasnt planning on changing the color, just getting the unit is great.

    EDIT: NVM to that question unless the check modeldb syntax doesnt include problems with file locations. So i can load the game, but the unit isnt in custom battle (even when i put it under england, not as a merc) and when i attempt to start a campaign it doesnt start but instead just goes back to the single player menu.

    are you using a modfolder?

    If No....look up how to set it up
    If Yes....Make sure you have the models in the right folders. {look at the unpacked teutonic mod folder for the right folders}

    *the new unit wont show up unless ur using a modfolder*
    the switching back to main menu is kinda wierd, but i'll look into that after u answere the above questions

    I've setup the mod folder, but im still experiencing problems. Opening the .bat file for my mod brings up the Medieval II screen then crashes right after with no error report. I have check and rechecked the log, but nothing is showing up in my logs/systems.log.txt file. I know i have that setup right so im really just stuck right now, but i think im close to being completely done. The one error i got looked like this:

    I have checked my battle_models.modeldb with the checkmodeldbsyntax as well as looking at it myself, but no errors have been found.

    check the EDU the problem is in there. make sure the syntax is correct there, can you post the ritterbruder entry?

    Your latest error has nothing to do with the EDU file; you got it, because you didn't update the unit number at the top of the battle_models file. If it dosen't match the number of unit entries in the file, your game will crash. Hope this helps.
