wont load ExRM

Ok i did a clean install,rtw,bi,1.6 then ExRM,then copied patch (all files in patch and over wrote)into ExRM folder.
Directory is, D:\Games\Rome
in Rome are bi,data,docs,ExRM,miles,saves,mss32.dll,RomeTW-BI.

The desktop short cut shows:
Start in D:\Games\Rome
target D:\Games\Rome\RomeTW-BI.exe -show_err -mod:ExRM

The games loads to initial screen showing bi then closes?

I did not patch rtw 1.2,1.3 as it wasn't mentioned in the installation guide,anybody got any ideas as to why its not working?have i did something wrong?

i now don't have any mods installed and cant play unless someone can offer a way of getting it to work

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble getting EXRM running.

I followed these instructions(By Tony) to a tee and it worked perfectly.

When you say "imported into BI", did you copy and paste the extracted ExRM folder into Rome - Total War/BI, or into Rome - Total War? If it was the first option, then I'm afraid that was wrong. Your file structure should be Rome - Total War/ExRM. It sounds as though you've pasted it in the wrong location.

If you have overwritten the data folders in either the BI or Rome - Total War folders then you are going to have to uninstall and reinstall the game afresh.

Once you've reinstalled Rome, unpack the ExRM3.2.rar onto the desktop - copy the ExRM folder - and paste it into the Rome - Total War folder.

Once you have those files in place you can then create the Desktop shortcut to start the game. To create the shortcut, first right-click on the Rome TW-BI.exe file, in the Rome - Total War folder - then select Send To/Desktop.

Then go the shortcut that you have just created on the Desktop and right click on it. Go to the Target field and add -show_err -nm -mod:ExRM at the end of the line, after the quote marks (make sure that you have a space between the quote marks and the -show_err -nm -mod:ExRM).

One thing though, you may want to patch your RTW to 1.5, even if you already patched it. Seemingly when installing some versions of RTW Gold Edition BI downgrades 1.5 to 1.3.

Check back and let us know how you get on.

i have uninstalled it all again

this time i will use patch 1.3 and 1.5 then bi,then 1.6 and if it doesn't work after that i will have to return to rtwpe

ExRM runs on the BI engine so shouldn't it only matter that BI is 1.6?

do you have RTW & BI on one disc (gold)? that means it's all patched already ....

The game now loads and shows rtpe 1.8? is this correct.

Good news,i copied all the files from the patch and overwrote into ExRM folder and the game now works and loads as rtwpe ExRM3.3

Dont know why it wouldn't work first time around, but the only thing i did different was as i said: added 1.3 patch before 1.5 bi 1.6 and i did not press the campaine reset button this time.I also added the short cut to the desktop and changed the path before adding the patch.

Thanks for all who have contributed,im of for around 4 ours starting a new campaign,will start of on H/H

yip thats it ,i had forgotten what it was.

Now at 238bc on H/H and finding it tough going,the gauls sacked Rome in 250bc and i have been struggling just to keep them at bay:hmmm:
Soon after the Greeks attacked in rhegium ,so all my time has been spend trying to get armies to fight the gauls in the North and the Greeks in the South?

i have found the AI is much more aggressive. when i started my campaign i thought i would be eliminated quickly. forutunately for rome, the other factions seem to send waves of levies which are no match for rome's legions. the worse part is waiting for reinforcements to arrive from roma.

btw, capua was invaded almost every turn by carthage in my early game. it was only after i took sicily that the invasions slowed and stopped.

I would love to be able to take Sicily but its wave after wave of Gauls which have caused me most problems as i cant produce enough troops to keep them at bay.My armies are used immediately so haven't been getting a chance to advance

By the way, any idea where to allow unlimited troops on battle field?
It used to be in the preference file but its not there now:hmmm:

unlimited men, found it in preference file i hadn't scrolled all the way through the file so missed it

Now at 174bc and have taken all Italy and Sicily

in the west the Egyptians have advance to Thrace,own Greece and Macedonia

so its only a matter of time before they get to me!
meanwhile i am in the process of taking out the Gauls who have been a thorn in my side.I cant see me winning as i don't have enough money or settlements to produce the stack i will need to ward off Egypt

I will keep going to see how long i can last
