Controversial filmmaker admits he's delighted to see a natural disaster potentially interfere with the Republican event.

Sometime you really have wonder at what cost some are willing to see their political ideology advanced.

To liberal documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, the bounds are seemingly endless. Moore has made a recent career out of attacking President George W. Bush, bashing conservatives and criticizing business. His latest outrage occurred on MSNBC’s August 29 “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” and when he commented about the coincidental timing of an unfortunate disaster – the potential for Hurricane Gustav to make landfall at the beginning of the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.

“I was just thinking, this Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven,” Moore said, laughing. “To have it planned at the same time – that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for day one of the Republican Convention, up in the Twin Cities – at the top of the Mississippi River.”

This has nothing to do with public policy, administration, or the economy at all. It has nothing to do with nations, states, or any sort of socio-political movement.

After that comment, Moore backed off a bit and did say he hoped nobody got hurt and he hoped everybody is taking cover.

It's obvious he mean the timing, not the hurricane itself.

I'm not a fan of the man but you are right, it is obvious that he meant the timing of the hurricane. This is the problem, how are you suppose to have a construcitive discussion about the many issues facing our nation when so many people are blinded by their ideology. Logic and reason has to take the backseat. This goes for extremist both to the left and right. Too many people put ideology and party before country. If you cant say anything good about the "other" side without at the same time bringing up something negative you are the person I'm talking about. Um...if praying for rain at an outdoor arena is comparable to being happy about what is approaching a cat 5 hurricane then dunno what to say. Moore should be ashamed to invoke such images for political message.

What he means is that the Hurricane will hit the the same place as Katrina, at the same time as the Republican convention, the party of Bush, the guy who screwed them over. He's a liberal, go figure.
