Default What the Palin pick says about McCain

In Yahoo, I found this imformative article.
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/12997

It gives six reasons what the Palin pick tells about McCain. I will say them below, but the extended paragraph is in the link.

    1. He's desperate for voters.

    2. He's willing to gamble-bigtime.

    3. He's worried about the political implications of age

    4. He’s not worried about the actuarial implications of the age issue

    5. He’s worried about his conservative base.

    6. At the end of the day, McCain is still McCain.

Wouldn't this have fit in the thread already dedicated to the Palin VP pick?

I'd add that he's a bit of a chauvenist. I don't mean to sound like a feminist, but:

    • First wife is a Model, divorses her after she gets broken up in a car accident while he's a P.O.W (And was cheating on her)
    • Second Wife isn't a model but looks like a barbie doll (Although she has certainly done some good), and is a reverse case of Gold-digger-ism.
    • Vice President is an Ex beauty Queen.

I can see why the VP was added, and it wasn't just because she's a pretty little trophy VP, but it still gives a vibe of being "I have to be surrounded by beautiful women."

I think the only reason he "picked" her was because his advisers calculated that a candidate with her profile would result in the most votes.

Well that is a given, of course the question will be were those calculations right...we'll see. He could have picked Romney or Hutchinson and been assured of a certain amount but either that wasnt enough to be comfortable with or he doesnt think it is enough to win so its worth this gamble.

Not to mention it is a sad statement about how far women have come in the Republican party if this is the most capable female the Republican party could come up with.

Capable and best fit are two different things and there are quite a few republican women who are CAPABLE of filling the roll and indeed being President but they dont fit the needs of the Mccain campaign. Besides why is it sad when we dont know enough about her to judge?

Media bias labeled as "Analysis" is still media bias.

I really doubt he would risk the presidency to be surrounded by beautiful women. As far as his wives go, that's his business. He has suffered a bit in his life and has served America, if he is rich and has a beautiful wife, good for him.

A mayor of a town of less then 10,000 ... a failed campaign for LT. GOV. ... an appointed position to investigate fraud ... GOV. of Alaska for 1.5 years ... pro-life ... pro-death penalty ... am I missing something? OK she is under investigation for firing people that divorced her family members ... OK even she had the legal right to do so it still looks SO WRONG. I understand that they have to fit the main candidate ... but it seems that McCain put that bar very low for this to be the best fit for him to be able to work with.

Then you take Obama's choice ... one of his harshest critics during the campaign ... clearly someone that will challenge the President and tell him the way it is. One thing that I would hope that we have learned from the last 8 years is that it is NOT a good idea to surround yourself with people you like and think just like you ... you need to actually appoint capable people because they will be the ones that make your job easier and make you look good because they are capable of doing their jobs.
