:hmmm:sometimes when i play mtw2 a pop up comes on and says your vitual memory is low and etc i was wondering how can i make it not low so it wont happen again.

How much RAM do you have?
Also, have a read at this.
lol not much like 19G

lol what is a ram
Do you use Xp of Vista? Its fairly easy to increase the size of your virtual memory, you just have to change a setting - though the directions are slightly different between xp and vista if i remember.
Either way it's probably been set too low for your computer, possibly if you upgraded the computer in the past or something.
Do most of your games run ok?

To find out how much RAM you have in Windows XP, follow these instructions. In Windows Vista, follow these instructions. If you're running Medieval II, are getting virtual memory warnings, and don't know what RAM is, you probably have 1 GB or so, maybe 2 GB or 512 MB.
There are three ways to avoid the problem:
- Get more RAM. This costs money and requires you to install some hardware, but it might be the best solution for making your computer run better. If you tell us how much RAM you have now, following the instructions above, we can tell you if this is your best option.
- Turn off all unneeded applications before you try to run Medieval II, like instant messenging clients, web browsers, BitTorrent clients, etc. This will help your computer's speed, and it won't cost money, but it might be inconvenient to have to disable those apps all the time.
- Increase page file size. This is basically just telling your computer to shut up and deal with it, you're not going to make its life any easier. This costs no money and lets you run all your programs without warnings or errors, but your computer might be slower than if you use one of the other two solutions.
thanx for al the help lol i do av 15gb
i av 512 of RAM is that good or bad
Somehow bad for Medieval... Better to have a 2GB at least, for large armies etc...
If you had not posted that you had 512 MB of RAM, I would of flamed you to no end.How someone could have 15 GB RAM and not brag,,,,
You most likely have DDR RAM. (I've never seen companies use only 512 MB of DDR2.)
I set mine at 2gb int and maximum as i have 750gb of hdd space. that way it never runs out.

You probably want to upgrade your RAM. But from your posts here, I think that would be pretty hard for you. You have to figure out what kind of RAM your motherboard will accept, and then install the RAM once you get it, and neither is something you want to do without assistance if you don't understand what RAM is in the first place. The best way for you to fix your problem might be to either get someone IRL who knows about computers to help you upgrade your RAM (I would get 2 GB, should cost less than $40), or to just get a new computer, since your current one is probably antiquated in other ways too.
But failing that you could increase your swap file size.
lol hard for me wel i usualy get som1 else to do my comp but il have to get one then
Your virtual Memory is to low and M2TW needs more.
Start>Control Panel>System>Advanced>Performance Options>Change (virtual Memory tab at the bottom)
Increase the maximum amount by 1000 so if its 4095 make it 5095. Save the new settings and away you go.
Now I thought in Windows XP the virtual memory was handled automatically by Windows so I'm very surprised that your getting this message (unless your not using XP).
As I say in the other thread, I do not recommend doing this. You should fix the warning by installing more RAM or closing some programs. Papering it over by increasing swap size will mean that your computer is running a lot slower than it should be.
No operating system I know of will automatically grow your swap space as it gets used up. It would be suicidal. Not only could an out-of-control program eat up all RAM, it could eat up all your disk space too, not to mention cause your system to thrash forever instead of being killed for using up all available memory.
You want to keep your swap space relatively small. Setting it to some huge value is a bad idea. I have 4 GB of RAM (3 GB usable), and 512 MB of swap. Swap should be big enough that some pages that are unlikely to be used can be swapped out if memory gets tight. It should not be so big that the OS tries to swap entire entire active programs' memory in normal operation. If that happens, trying to switch to those programs will cause your computer to freeze for however long it takes to read hundreds of megabytes of probably-not-contiguous blocks from disk into memory. Moreover, if a program goes ballistic and starts eating unlimited memory, you want the OS to kill it quickly, which will not happen if the OS is instructed to tolerate ridiculously large use of swap.
I'll have to check by I could swear that XP handles virtual memory automatically. I've also mentioned (in the other thread) that RAM is dirty cheap and it should be the next thing he buys.
Edit:
I thought as much XP does automatically manage the virtual memory. Sowing the seeds of doubt into my mind, Sim.....
Further edit:
Well assuming you are using XP, your getting virtual memory errors because your hard drive is full of crap, time to uninstall, staff you don't need, defrag, clear up the startup programmes (Start>run>msconfig>Startup tab, turn everything off bar Anti Virus and Firewall).
Next buy yourself a 1gb stick of ram, if your not sure on what ram to buy use the Crucial memory Advisor tool on the Crucial Memory website (google Crucial). Make a note of what ram you need and see if you can buy it cheaper 2nd hand on ebay.
