So uh...I am playing as the U.S.A and I have some questions

1.How the heck do I move planes over the ocean...there's no use to them if they are stuck in the States?

And because I'm a n00b,I lost half of my pacific fleet to the japs(stupid eh?)But I have some ship in Pearl Harbor and Los Angeles...

I could use alot of advice...and you could introduce me some things that I'l never find out on my own

You're going to need a friendly airport on the other side of the ocean. Select your planes, right click the province with the airport and rebase.

What did your fleet consist of? The most powerful ships in the game are aircraft carriers. Try to build lots of those.

Regarding the Naval thing, it's a little difficult to get your head around.

What you need is at least a 1:1 ration of capital ships (Air Carriers, Battleships, Battlecrusiers, Heavy Cruisers) to screens (Light Cruisers, Destroyers). Basically, you need the screens to defend against smaller ships, air attacks, and especially submarines. If you have a fleet that consists of only Carriers, than you're screwed.

What I normally use is 5 Air Carriers : 5 Light Cruisers : 5 Destroyers. And remember to add CAGs to your Carriers; they're virtually useless without them. And the best thing about CAGs is that they can be upgraded - it's not impossible for a CV - 1 to be epuipped with a Turbojet CAG!

What i try to do is have 2 fleets of 30 ships.
Each consists of 12 transports
2 Carriers 2 Battleships big ones 3 heaavy cruiser 1 light carrier and 1 huge ship (battle one)
5 lighy cruisers 4 destroyers

No, because that's a pretty bad fleet.

You should only use transports to, well, transport your land forces. To this end you would have a fleet with maybe 10 transports, and a few destroyers/cruisers as escort. Then you would have a fleet that is purely for naval vs. naval battles (such as CVs, BBs, CAs, CLs, DDs, etc.), and other fleets composed entirely of subs (you shouldn't mix them with other ships).

Carriers also depend on weather conditions heavily. During winter there's a great chance for stormy weather, which will render your aircraft useless and leave your precious carriers helpless against battleships. Some sea regions pretty much have bad weather by default, such as Baltic sea (and most waters around Northern Europe).

For that reason i also like to have a few battle fleets, which have
4-8 battleships, usually with fire control, improved hull.
2-3 heavy cruisers
4-6 light cruisers
4-6 destroyers

For carrier fleets,
4-8 carriers
3-4 heavy cruisers
4-6 light cruisers
4-6 destroyers

I usually divide fleet into five groups:

1. Main battle group, form by carrior, battleship, battle cruiser and heavy cruiser; the main role of this group is to engage enemy fleet.

2. Recon group, form by battle cruiser, heavy cruiser, light cruiser and destroyer. The role of this group is for flexible purpose, mainly for second line combate support, main skirmish support and landing support.

3. Skirmish group. Form by heavy cruiser, light cruiser and destroyer. The role of this group is mainly for patrol, light skirmish, second-line landing support, convoy raid and sub hunting.

4. Transport group. As the name suggests, for transport troops.

5. Sub group. Form only by subs; the role of this group is mainly for patrol, convoy raid and secondary combate support.

Problems with this:

1) Battlecruisers are not worth building based upon the IC to power ratio.
2) Your battleships and heavy cruisers are next to useless when working alongside normal carriers, because they cannot close range quickly enough to fire, and therefore become cannon fodder.
3) If you want to use battleships, team them with a light carrier or two so they can close range even against normal carriers.
4) An idea carrier battle group is usually just carriers and destroyers. I personally use four carriers and eight destroyers per group.

well, yeah, I just dont think DDs are that bad, I mean theyre the cheapest actual ship in the game, IIRC the advantage that light cruisers have over DDs when it comes down to aerial defence, is that cruisers actually deal more dmg to the enemy, but DDs arent that bad either considering theyre pretty much dirt cheap.

On one hand you'd really want to beef up your CTFs so that no carriers get sunk, on the other hand, its not really cost effective to use light cruisers in the sense that the cruisers never get to utilize their guns at close enough range (cruisers are pretty good when they get to gun range mind you).

DDs work well enough as torpedo fodder if your carrier fleet gets attacked from the air, then youll have ample time to withdraw, while carriers do the hard sinking. DDs on the other hand arent as good as light cruisers in gunfleets, as the light carriers allow the whole gunfleet to pretty much close in regularly.

Even though super heavy battleships are kinda cool and devastating, they alone wont really deal enough damage if youre facing a big enemy fleet, not to mention that carriers will target those few capital ships (BBs/SHBBs) automatically.

some use these cruiser only fleets accompanied with some light carriers to enable the fleet to close in. That would be a Cruizerg fleet, something like 3-4 light carriers, other capital ships should be normal heavy cruisers, and the screen would be light cruisers of equal tech level w/fire control brigades. Thus the fleet would close in to the firing range both the screens and capital ships. On the other hand you still have to close in, and you're kind of a sitting duck meanwhile

lol, light carriers are NOT waste of time and money, nor are they waste of research, all the allied countries should be doing some research on them, because UK has huge battleship and heavy cruiser reserves, you wanna use them as well, not just sit in the harbour. With light carriers they can close in quite reliably and utilize their guns to deadly effect. USA would also benefit from them for the same reason as UK. Although normal carrier tech is of utmost importance as US. Also light carriers are godly in ASW fleets together with DD/asw ships

Also, light carriers soak huge amounts of dmg for their cost, AWAY from any more expensive capital ships such as battleships, which would normally be targeted by enemy carriers.

No need to worry, in my first game I lost to Romania... when I was playing as Soviet Union.
But slowly I learned how to play the game, just as you will.
