Default Who do you support-Obama, McCain or a third party?

Since we have both candidates and their vice-presidents, I want to ask a question probably asked many times, who do you support? This isn't the same as the others, right now we actually have the VPs.Don't worry, the polls aren't public.

    McCains VP: Sarah Palin
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080829/...cvn_veepstakes

    Obama's VP: Joe Biden
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/200...litico/12955_1

Here are some good sites for the stances of both.

    For Obama: http://www.ontheissues.org/Barack_Obama.htm

    For McCain: http://www.ontheissues.org/john_mccain.htm

Or if you support a third party i.e. GreenParty, Libetarian Party please state so, if you don't mind, if you don't want to say which, we will understand, just say that you support a third party

You can discuss, but I would prefer you vote and say why and not argue but I can't stop a discussion so let's keep it clean people.

For this goal you will need mod status. Good luck.

Seriously - I will vote on this, but only after the republican convention. Gete both sides on the same footing so to speak. It is a long time until the november vote.

Probably Mccain. I agree with him on most of the issues, and he is at least more moderate. Obama, I think is probably one of the best orators in American history, however i feel he lacks reality, and his plans are more dream than reality.

btw Palin was a great Vp choice.

Mac and Paulin are getting my support.

His VP pick was just brilliant. A woman, and a young one at that, takes a lot of Ex-Hillerites.

Palin was an insult, and a stupid choice at that. It is a transparent ploy to get the Hillary supporters, as if he thinks parading any woman up there for him will magically draw in all of the female supporters of Clinton. But then he goes with a strongly anti-abortion pick even in cases of rape or incest. A slap in the face to the supporters he wanted to attract, most of whom hold pro choice beliefs.

You're jumping the gun a little bit there with your stupid choice comment.

McCain's camp have obviously done their homework and aren't about to pick someone who doesn't help them. They must believe that they have a better chance of winning in November with Palin as his running mate. If he can gain a couple of percentage points from this pick, whether they come from large C conservatives or from disenchanted Hillary supporters(more and likely both), it may well put him over the top in November.

+1 Winter, you said it all.

My (intense Hillary supporter) mom is pissed as hell about McCain's VP choice.

I prefer civilian leadership than military one. So OBAMA ROCKS!

Mccain is not military leadership. Both Mccain and Obama are Senators. Mccain, having had military experience and military connections, would be a better commander and chief in this time of war. I fail to understand your point.

Why? She should be pissed at Obama, for not picking Hillary. McCain's pick is his own, not your Mothers.

    I support McCain...barely...

now I should say that it was not a hard decision for me. I am stauchly anti Obama. He is very left leaning, almost socialist...who got to where is he is trumpheting transparent idealism...and pandering to people based on race, economic status, and hatred of Bush/republicans....

McCain in my opinion is a poor choice too. I am very conservative (I am not a Republican rank and file...but I vote Republican becase they are closer to my political/social ideologiy)...McCan will not be a good president...but he will be better than Obama.

As for the VP choices.... Bidens selection is proof of two things....A) Obama is not experienced enough and needs someone with serious time in thre to alievate the worrys about his experiece.... connected to that by choosing someone who has been in DC so long...it proves Obama nothing more than a hypocryt and a politican by choosing someone who doesnt look like the "CHANGE" he spouts

Palin...lets be honest was a pathetic attempt to get the pissed off Hilary vote. At least she is decently conservative, and is young so unlike McCain might actually live the term... but it was nothing but a political move on the McCain camp.

So...despite my problems with both sides.... the choice is still easy....go with McCain and try and repair the damage he does in 2012.... or not vote and have to wait 50 years to repair the damage Obama does...which will be very very severe.

Note* A key factor for anyone who is still undecided...think about this.... most likely we are going to be replacing Supreme Court Justices (at least 3) during the next 4 years... the bench is now 5-4 conservative.... if Obama gets in...expect a very liberal court for a long time....and that can do serious damage to this country...possibly irreversible

I am going Obama as I see him as the candidate less likely to get us into another fun war. Plus 8 years of a borderline retarded republican? Yea democrats suck but its impossible for them to do any worse then these past 8 ( I hope)

Wrong. We've got good generals and the war will take care of itself. No candidate from either party is going to commit political suicide by starting another war.

What matters is energy and the economy. Obama tries to appeal to the middle-class uneducated in economics by saying he will tax "big business" or "big oil." The truth is, taxing big business more provides them with a bigger reason for out sourcing, meaning less American jobs. Taxing oil companies is just dumb if you want to lower the gas price. With this extra tax revenue the gov. would waste more money on dubious government programs that we don't need.

IIRC the supreme Court Justices who are most likely to retire or step down due to health issues...are Ginsberg and Stevens, who are among the most liberal justices on the court. If Obama gets in he'll just be swapping out two liberal justices for another two.
Whereas if McCain's gets the nod he has a chance to cement the court firmly in the conservative corner for some time to come.

Not really... the Justices that will most likely step down with the next 10 years will be Scalia and Kennedy... two conservative judges.... which means even if Stevens and Ginsberg step dpwn as well..thats will be 4 jusges Obama can replace.... (so replace two liberals with liberals still makes it the same... but then 2 conservatives with liberals will make the court liberal for at least 30 yrs. (I win the argument..prepare to be fish smacked)

Actually this is what you said.....
most likely we are going to be replacing Supreme Court Justices (at least 3) during the next 4 years

Three is a stretch in the next 4 years, but two is likely. With those being Ginsberg - due to poor heath and Stevens - due to age and poor health.

It's too far down the road to speculate who'll vacate their seat 10 years from now.

There should be an undecided option.

In my mind I don't see how people could have made a choice yet. I know where I was leaning before the VP selections, its far from concrete though, and now after the VP selections, even more so.
