Obama took on Biden to get rid of the "inexperience" and "elitist" label, McCain, in a very smart move, took on Palin to get rid of the "old white man" and "part of the system" images. I thought Obama had this election pretty much in his grasp, this move by the Republicans just made this election interesting.

Plus, for an older women, she's a hottie

As I said in the other thread, McCain chose her just to get the women to vote for him, the women who said they won't vote Obama.

Perhaps the choise is simply -- I need a governor on my ticket as a VEEP. She has conservative credentials. She can speak well and campaign well. Maybe, just maybe -- Sen. McCain feels this is the best choice for his campaign.

He's had cancers two times, 6 years of torture in 'Nam... And to think that a person which has been mayor (or was it governor?) for two years gonna step in would discomfort me if I was an American citizen.

Not really since its clear the inexperience issue is a non one as evidenced by failure for it to stick by Hillary during primary. Besides its better to have a less experienced VP then it is to have President.

It'll be interesting to see if the Democrats try to attack that, considering her two years of experience as a state governor give her more executive experience than Biden, Obama, and McCain combined.

It will depend when we find out more about her, on paper she is a bold choice but we need to see the reality of it. Romney would have been a more safe pick and a good choice imo but clearly Mccain thought to gamble on someone he thinks would shake things up more. We'll see if he was right...this is certainly better then Pawlney which would have been dull.

Well she has the charm, at easy speaking thing down to the T...and alot of energy in her speaking. How that holds up under substances will be key. Maybe a bit too energy but it could be nerves.

The governor of a state is certainly more "experienced" and ready to lead than a junior Senator, whose only other "experience" is in the Illinois Legislature, voting "Present", to a huge degree.

I think that played a part,

But Palin's also a pretty staunch Social Conservative so it might help unify the Far Right base. Also, it's someone who's not from Washington so they can try to go for their own Conservative version of, "Change' or, "Reform".

BTW McCain needs to fire whomever makes his web ads because they just chose probably the worst image for Palin, the image they chose made her look a to bit much like Palin. Image in todays world is everything and the image they chose won't attract voters.

Also about several other mcCain ads they show one where he is grimmacing. I mean McCain should just fire the who is making these adds because they don't give the right image he should be giving.
