    As far as Archers and Crossbowmen, would I be correct to think that a Longbow Unit has a superior range to any other unit of this kind.

    I was surprised last night to see a Welsh Longbow Unit firing from where the AI placed them, behind my infantry to units inside a city wall. My peasant archers had to go in half distance to get a shot, and take casualties. On top of a hill they can cause havoc to the enemy well before they arrive.
    I have not tried then against Armoured types as yet, how effective r they?

    very effective due to 'effective against armor' trait, very long range missiles and steaks for breakfast.

    And what about javelin infantry?
    i play the kievans now and their slave javelin inf is useless. they don't seem capable to trow any single dart.
    things go better for the mounted ones.
    it will be better to give the foot javelins the chance to move and fire too.
    or to lower a lot the time needed to reload.
