    Default Quick templar reskin

This is just a quick reskin of a dismounted templar soldier, its not perfect but this is my first attempt.
It's based on one of the outfits from kingdom of heaven:

    http://yeuanhso.com/gallery2/d/64156...-of-Heaven.jpg

screenshots and readme are included in the file.

    feedback would be appreciated

EDIT: Updated original making it more of a cream colour as shown in kingdom of heaven and also brought in the two top crosses closer to centre to stop it clashing with the arm hole

I dont think the templars would look like that, maybe it could be good to give the antioch knights a reskin, or did they actually wear such overly light blue garments with red decorations?

Might also be nice to see the jerusalem knights reskinned to look like those from kingdom of heaven.

I basically did this because i saw in one of the forums that people were complaining about the repetitive units for templars and hospitallers. One of the images posted was the one i've put a link to so i thought i'd give it a shot.
As i have said this is my first atempt so it wont be the best

If anyone has an image for me to work from i would hapily atempt to do some skinning for someone, nothing major, just minor improvements

    heh... that was me... guilty...

but i agree with aduellist (and ive posted about that too, in the templar mod thread) about the templars being very strict about their looks...

what i meant was a more distinct difference in the armor and the look of the armor... not the white smocks themselves (since the rules were basically that they had to have a white robe with the red cross, and a white surcoat with the cross... the shape of the cross was a bit individual i think, but not by much)
addicted modder... but crap at it

I concur. The challenge with the militant orders is to keep true to the dress requirements while avoiding "Attack of the Clones" syndrome. Not easy to do.

    @Tibor

Keep it up. Just because I disagree with your artistic choice doesn't mean your work is poor quality. In fact it looks quite accomplished.

Personly I am just annoyed with the partially black templar shields and the templar knights looking like feudal knights when dismounted, I rather see them the same as the mounted versions, with longer surcoats and cooler helmets.

Never did I see black in a templar shield, its just not accurate as far as I know.

hmmm well i can't do modelling only amateur skinning so i couldnt change the actual body of the units such as helmet and coat, etc
i could remove the black from the shields if you like, i think it is the way it is because of the templar flag that looks like this:
    http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thum...r_flag_xxl.jpg
unsure of its historical accuracy on shields though

I certainly don't want to dissuade you from continuing your skinning work (there can never be enough talented modellers or skinners around TWC ), but why chose the fictional colors of Ibelin as a basis for skinning the Templars? Historically the Templars (as well as the other military/religious orders) had very strict rules regarding dress. If they all "look the same", it's because they were supposed to.

If you want to pursue a project that would generate a great fan base for your work, try reskinning some of the Muslim factions. They're in dire need.

Keep up your efforts. I'm looking forward to seeing some great work from you in future.

That reskin has nothing to do with the Order of Knights Templars. That picture depicts "Balian of Ibelin" and he was no templar. That was probably his own coat of arms for the barony of Ibelin.

Doubt that. Those crosses aren't even similar to the Ibelin coat of arms.

Look at the guy on the right though (and other knights around). They seem to have Ibelin shields just like Orlando. So maybe they've got at least one thing right in this movie.

Well delra, that actually kinda looks like right side (his left side). Probably been "hollywoodified" a bit.

    Hmmmm. Maybe...

Yeah. If you cut this coat of arms propely, you might get something like his decoration.

So they did two things right in this movie!

Well thanks for support everyone, and yes i have thought of reskining the muslim factions although it seems quite a challenge
I have done some research and yeh i see where everyone's coming from with the templars not wearing that, i believe it was the knights of tripoli or something :hmmm:
I just thought i'd have a go at reskinning and then thought i'd share it because i was quite proud of it
I'l leave it here just incase someone wants to use that texture for another reason, but historically, it probably wont do the job

We figured it was knights of Ibelin. Ibelin being a castle in the Holy Land.

Looks great! I for one love to see more skins for the KoJ/Templars. Not to say they should replace Templar units but a new Knights of Ibelin unit...

Maybe Antioch knights could be replaced by knights of Ibelin.
