Noob question about marriages

Hi people, just curious when the start of a new turn comes around and a card comes up saying there is a lady of fine breeding to marry into your family and you have to tick yes or no. It always seems hit and miss as to how old or young or whatever the other person is. My question is there any sort of logic to it or is it just marry them off and start with the kids already

The marriage offers that come up randomly are to "unknown" ladies who will not give your hero any traits good or bad.

To marry your guy to a foreign princess you need to ask her personally (send a diplomat or one of your princesses). It is a good idea to send a private eye first to dig up her past and present (a spy to look at her traits and ancillaries ).

Marriage with one of your own princesses is automatically successful, and you already know her traits so you can't complain if she's a wretch.

They only ask you because you might want to keep the guy single for a certain princess...

I think that you would be better off marrying your Prince to a princess of medium amount of hearts (too low or too big charm is always a problem). You just have to remember who of your allies got one recently. Snatching some bonuses this way is much more realistic than going blind. Especially if you are just starting a dynasty so the lady will be the grandmother of most of your generals and governors in the game.
