    Default Number of Familiy members

The scenario, Portugal (Human) is getting its butt whooped by Ai Spain, but manages to sneak its nigntbattle prince with army upto city and attack, killing king. As only family member, faction implodes, leaving four heavily guarded rebel settlemnts and a few spare rebel full stack armies to siege my cities.

    So how to stop imploding?

How about I_NumberOfHeirs, script a on faction start, heirs <3 spawn new character. :hmmm:But where, well lets check two locations and try and see if still owned by faction, if so spawn family member (at least that should help).

Q: Has anyone tried this, and if so are there any pitfalls?

I doubt you can spawn someone into the family tree like that, but you can sure try. I think the problem will be that you wont be able to name a father, so the tree will break. Its possible that it will just spawn him under the faction leader but I kind of doubt it.

I was thinking that the game automatically assigns an heir if there is a character available, so they will be added to the family tree by the game if the heir dies out. There is still the chance that the king and heir will die in the same turn, but it at least cuts down the chance. If I make it <1 then they should become heir eg

    monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType england
    and not FactionIsLocal
    and I_NumberOfHeirs < 1

    if I_SettlementOwner London = england
    spawn_character random_name, named character, age 18, x 78, y 218
    end_if

    end_monitor

:hmmm:Given that there is no faction heir with the above, would giving them the Factionheir trait cause issues?

:hmmm:I suppose I could also add some code for random traits, but would probarly want to give specific traits such as Fertile, Brave, Healthy to them.

It might work in that situation. I was considering a tree with a few people still in it, not an empty tree. I wouldnt give the faction heir trait, it will fire the next turn anyways.
