The territorial integrity language is crucial. That has been the code so far between the Russian side and the rest of the world. The fact that the SCO has endorsed the maintaining of "territorial integrity" is pretty much an FU to Russia.

The only friends they have left are Cuba and Iran heh.

the SCO did not say "it does not support Russia".

the net of all the meetings was that SCO support Russia's actions against Georgia but refuses to sign under Abkhazian and South Ossetian independence (which is fair enough). we are clearly aware of the reasons why they are not going to do this. just like we do not expect Serbs to sign under it, because it will automatically mean they are screwing themselves up with Kosovo.

it doesnt mean that these countries privately do not support us or refuse to continue be friends and allies with us.

SCO is not a Warsaw Pact and just as in NATO, the partners are free to agree or disagree with our actions, and we can openly discuss those issues.

just because France was agressively anti US-led Iraq invasion, it doesnt mean that it stopped being a US ally, didnt it?

Anyway for now only Belorus hinted it might recognise A and SO, but when it cannot be defined yet - tomorrow or like never, who knows...

Link is OK -- it is buried way down the article -- main point of article is Putin spanking USA.

To all those supporting Russia -- If the modern world is going to survive, we need to insist that countries protect their own minorities. This nonsense of rebellion and "protecting your citizens" in other nations is garbage that should have ended with WWII and Hitler dead in the bunker.

And yes, this is like the NAzi attempts at living space and not an attempt to stop debate. Sometimes bringing up the Nazis is appropriate.

Russia was fine to stop the assault on their soldiers. Heavy weapons and bomber groups do not stop a small arms conflict if you are acting as peacekeepers.

The Georgias were idiots to take the potshots and the Russians are idiots if they think the west is fooled by their actions. If Russians want to participate in separating sides in a conflict, this is not a good advertisement.
