Default Cannot load New Campaigns without crashing

Basically what the title says. I attemt to load a campaign, when it finishes, a bar appears above the original bar , quickly fills, then crashes without any error message to my desktop. That's having the Resolution set to 800X600. When I set it to the next level, (1200Xsomething else I dunno) it doesn't crash when it finishes loading, but puts you in the campaign and then instantly brings up the Escape button menu. If I ask to resume the game it loads again and comes back to the same menu. When I try to change the resolution back to 800X600 and load it, and still brings me back to the Escape button menu but it's all flickering and messed up:hmmm:. If I try to click any of the items there it then crashes.

I dunno what to do and I really like this game, played it at my Dad's house.

I have a (I'm just reading this off of my general info panel)

    Dell Dimension DIM3000

    Intel(R)
    Pentinium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
    2.79GHz 512 MB of RAM

The video card is an Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller

    Any help would be welcomed

Brusilov will probably correct me later but I think you need to uninstall it and reinstall it for starters. Put the -show_err switch in the command line so you get an error message when you exit.

You're making me paranoid! I think I've only corrected you once (or twice) about an RTR install problem.....

@figgy27 - welcome to the forum!
Anyway, I think the main problem could be simply that the PC is very old, doesn't have that much memory and the on-board graphics may struggle with the game.

Apart from the -show_err switch you can try to delete (or rename) the map.rwm file (or all ocurrences of it). This file is created from other files in the install if it's not present. The loading time will be slighly longer than usual but it's a one-off.

Have you ever been able to play campaign games on this PC? Has anything changed that you are aware of?

    Can you play custom battles?

Make sure that the resolution for the campaign and battle maps are the same - I'd suggest by starting with the minimum graphics setings for everything. If you can play a game on the lowest settings it may simply be a matter of increasing them slightly. Avoid grass and shadows - they are known killers of graphics cards.

I already had the game installed on this. But when I tried to play it was a file could not parse with something and stopped. Then I reinstalled it through the Total war menu. then I was able to get in. I just tried a quick and custom battle, they work fine.

Edit- I dunno what you guys are talking about with a show error switch, where is it?

Have a look at the bottom of the first post in this thread: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=60685

You would be able to find this using the search facility in the forum. It's possible to find all sorts of useful information. Most of the problems have been solved before.

I'm sorry, man, I searched and searched and none of those threads helped me out.

and I still dunno WTF you're talking about with show_err...Where do I change this setting??

I did find a folder that held all of my errors in an archive though. Not sure if the campaign errors are in there though.

Well by looking at your log you installed cursade mod wrong if all else fails try this "C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -show_err
for some the file maybe in the one above. Other wise Ill do my best to help ya but when you install it always do it 2 times on any mod that way you will run into less problems this way.
