    Default Roma surrectum ctd

hi i have recently problems with ctd on RS campaign, crashes random time loading before or after battle, im running vista, and if that matters, i did a mistake when first patching v1.5 over original RTW v1.1, i shuld have patched 1.3 first, however i reinstalled from cd fresh version but instead of showing v1.1 on right corner of options theres v1.5, i ignored it and patched v1.3 and then 1.5, and installed RS. Anyone got any idea what the problem is? 1.5 patch cant just appear on the cd!:hmmm:if its messed up is there any way to restore it?

The best way is to uninstall it, delete the Rome folder, and reinstall it. Since you now know the proper order, it will be easier this time.

A lot depends on how you removed the game. If you just deleted the folder then there are entries left in the Windows Registry - which may be why your game shows up as 1.5.

best way to be sure every thing if removed from your hard drive is uninstalling and afther uninstallment deleting the remaining folders becous afther uninstalment there are still some files in the folder that should be removed.

Well, it depends upon where they were installed in the first place. It was you that installed them (I presume)?

The standard location will be your 'C' drive.

There will be a folder called 'Program Files' under the 'C' drive. As you;ve got Vista the game could have been installed to 'Program Files (x86)'.

Within that folder you will either have a folder called 'Activision' or 'The Creative Assembly'.

Within that folder there will be a folder called 'Rome - Total War'.

    That's the folder.

I'd suggest just trying to uninstall the game using the start menu programs provided. If you can't find them then try and use the Windows supplied programs that do it (do a search for uninstall programs).

It may be necessary to remove entries from the Windows Registry the following post is the one usually referred to.

I would suggest that you have a read through the Vista related links in this post as well. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=167821

They helped me get my games working on Vista. User Account Control is very important with Vista. You've not posted anything about it so far so I presume you've not turned it off one way or another (I use the Tweak-UAC program referred to in the second Vista thread).

Before I changed to Vista I read many posts from people about problems with Vista - UAC was seen to be the main problem.

If you don't turn UAC off then you will be repeatedly asked for permission to run things - even if you are an administrator.

I get the feeling that switching UAC off may affect where the game installs various components. Save games and preferences.txt are effected by this.

It didnt work,.. anyway where can the problem be? i got this DVD version of the game I think it was 1.1, even if it shows 1.5, and installed 1.3 and 1.5 over it, it works fine except giving me headache with crashing after battle soo damned often, even if it happens once per battle.
