Any script to avoid civil war?
Let me ask a noob question (I bet you like those
I have a very nice campaign running in SPQR mod. But the nasty senators started to send me on impossible missions very soon (capture settlement in the middle of the german territory etc.) and since I logically werent able to follow, they asked me to kill my leader, therefore triggering civil war too soon, I like republic and want to extend it as long as I can.
My question is - is there any way how to improve senate attitude through scripting, adding popularity with the senate, for instance?
Or if not, any ideas how to manage avoiding civil war, basically that means keeping senate faction ingame before I decide myself to get rid of them, while keeping certain popularity no matter whether I fulfill their quests or not?
And the last thing. If there is no way how to keep senate, I at least want to avoid civil war, rather keeping Roma as "rebel city" through killing all senate faction family members.
But How do I do that? I tried the easy campaign script but it doesnt seem to work. In descr_strat.txt I have like:
script
Kill.txt
And in the file in the campaign directory:
campaign_wait 5
console_command kill_character "Marcus Maxentius"
end_script
When I run the campaign and open the console, the kill character line is actually there, but Marcus Maxentius is still alive...What could be a problem? Thanks a million for your help...

Re: Any script to avoid civil war?
I don't know how this is done in SPQR mod, but in vanilla the senate missions are handled in descr_senate.txt
If you don't want to be outlawed anymore, just reduce the penalties for failed missions (replace every instance of Outlaw with, for example, p3). I did'nt try this yet, but you can possibly just delete the block "Demand_Suicide" - or at least set the "reissue_delay_in_turns" (found in some other missions) to an obscenely high value -, so you can't be forced into civil war by the senate demanding you to kill your entire family.
You could also remove the penalties for failing difficult missions - just set every line with "(number) D p*" to "(number) D r1"
If SPQR doesn't have this file, it probably uses the vanilla one. Then just copy the original file to your SPQR/data folder and edit it.
EDIT: You could also try to tweak turn_coefficient, strength_coefficient, relative_strength_coefficient and combined_strength_coefficient, but I've got no idea what these exactly do (besides somehow making the senate angry at you once you get too powerful).
