Why think? Easier to believe.
More people trying to sell books. I honestly think some people will be disappointed when the world doesn't end in 2012. I'm also fairly sure the end of the Mayan calendar means did not mean the end of the world to the Maya.

If all this is true then Halie should have made his mod set in 2012.
If you think about it people said it is the end of the world every few years. 666. 1666. When Jesus was born, etc. etc. etc.
Speculative bull.
Absolute**s, uter rubbish, they said the world would end at 1000AD so why postphone it because they're wrong, don't forget that the mayans who supposidly made this up they were brutal as the Aztecs so there's alway going to be some doomsday story to scare everyone, science is the way forward not suppetition

Those Christians were in error. According to the Holy Bible a date is not given for the beginning of the Rapture/tribulation period. Only a timescale after it begins.

THE PIKE WARS HAVE BEGUN!
I wish I could find the site I had run across years back that talked about a mis interuptation of the Mayan calander between it's long and short counts. Taking notice only to the short count contributes to the idea that world will end in 2012.
I wonder what other prophecies will exist once the year 2012 comes and goes any other good ones out there?
Exactly. The Mayan calendar begins one count and starts a new one, like our transition from 1999 to 2000, beginning a new millenium. And as I said in another thread, if a super-planet was due to collide with (or pass right by) Earth in less than four years, EVERY amateur astronomer with a decent pair of binoculars would be able to see it. The government can't keep them all quiet. It's bull.
If you have any clue as to where I could learn more about that long count I'd be grateful. Oh and from what I know of the Mayan apocalypse is that all the tools and things that we've made will rise up against us, I'm not certain but I think that actually happen (at least the end of the world once for them already) but if it were to happen to us then it would be like Maximum overdrive or Terminator were computers and machines exact punishment for our decadent ways and our disconnection with the earth.
I watched a show on Discovery last nite where these rich businessmen are going forward with artificial intelligence, robotics and cybernetics despite the warnings.
I cant really comment on the Niburu planet because I cant go out and look at the section of the sky it is in. Supposedly it should theoretically be able to easily see the patch of sky in question from the Australian mainland. I have no idea exactly where it is supposed to be unless it is supposed to be the constellation of the Southern Cross.
Does anyone have the approximate coordinates the object is supposed to be at??

Are you seriously going to believe the History channel when it comes to prophecies?
I saw it. I believe the world will end in another way.
