Question: What purpose does the vote sharing at the convention serve? Does Clinton actually benefit in some way from this or is it just a pride thing? I was born and raised outside the States but my mother was American so I am a citizen and I currently live in the US so I am curious since I am not sure if this is something that might actually affect me at some point or not.

The purpose it serves is to make Hillary continue to think she is more relevant and important than she really is.

It is only to placate Hillary supporters. The conventions are completely private affairs of the parties. The best way I have heard them described is as "political info-mercials".

Nothing is decided at the conventions, the votes are meaningless. Hypothetically, if Hillary did magically get more votes (as president or vice president nominee), Obama/Biden would still get the nomination. Its already been decided.
