If you start an Early Era campaign, when do the Teutonic Order join the campaign and exactly where?
Presently there starting lands are controlled mainly by Poland, Lithuania and Novgorod.

Year 1230, two stacks of Teutonic Order will appear somewhere near the Baltic coast.

I take it that they have no settlement at this time and are looking for somewhere to settle. I was considering doing a bit of Pagan bashing in Lithuania, I have now gone of the idea. I take it we will come to blows over the Baltic and they will want to expand in the Baltic region.
In my experience they head straight for Vilinus (lithy capital) and usually take it, whether they just sit there after that or carry on is a bit hit and miss for me.

Yes, they are a horde army. They will probably attack the weakest target next, better watch out. My game, they went east to play with the Mongols because Vilinus was being beseiged by every single Catholic army in the game (crusade target).
They appear in the Prussia region, the settlement name is Palanga i think. They spawn slightly south of the settlement.
Soylent Green is people!!!
iīm just playing as lithunia...they appeared south-east of palanga and marched on to kiev and conquered it (it was under kievan rus controll before).
canīt remember the year
Is it actually possible to destroy this faction? I played a game as Lith. they took Vilinius but divided their army, so I destroy half their force in Vil and then the other half in the field. However, the faction is still considered living.
Thats because they are able to Horde. Which means, if they have no cities but still units in the field, they're still "alive" as the Teutonic Order.
You usually see a small blip on the campaign map. They're color is black if i'm not mistaken....so hunt for the small black blip on the campaign map if its their last unit.
have the same problem. i did beat the split up forces of the teutonic order at kiev and surrounding area. now they are still alive but no sign of them, i guess there is an army wandering around somewhere.
i also donīt have the blip on the map anymore, is it possible that it shows up for the leader of the faction?
Hmmm, now im not sure anymore. I took the theory from Rome:Total War actually. Where Barbarian factions show up as small blips on the small campaign map overview if they had no villages and became a horde. I think it must be a general unit at least. Or else they are just like common rebels.
So I guess the leader is still wandering around yes. Since i'm not quite familiar with this, you could try toggling the FOW off and check it out to be sure via console ( type: toggle_fow ). Then you can scan the map and see if they are really alive or not.
I remember reading on here somewhere that even if you destroy all armies they stay alive until all of their agents/spies/diplomats/etc are killed. Haven't testing it myself tho...

These Teutonic Stacks, what sort of units should I expect?
I played this faction in Kingdoms, they have serious heavy duty infantry and Cavarly. However saying that I am the Danes and also have a powerful array of units.
I have an Alliance with Poland and Novgorod, perhaps I should consider providing miltiary assistance to keep mthem off my back
Exactly the same units as in Kingdoms. Except tougher because they get all the cool stuff from Stainless Steel too.
I have not worded the question properly, tell me do they have Ritterbruder, both dismounted and Mounted from the start?
Do they have Livonian Aux as well?
I know it is cheating, but trying to get an idea of what to expect, so I can balance my forces properly.
Ritterbruder is the one with horns that scares enemies, right? I think only 4 units of those.
