    Default Change of existing unit names

    Hello,

    which files do I have to change if I want to change a units name?

    Is it sufficient to change only the export_desc_unit.txt or are there more files to modify?

    Thank you for your help!

    If you just want to change a unit's name, you don't even need to edit the EDU. Just open the export_units.txt file in the data\text folder. There you'll see that each unit has 3 entries:

    {unit_name}
    {unit_name_descr}
    {unit_name_descr_short}

    The first is the unit name, the second the long description for unit info cards and the third is the short description for things like the custom battle screen. Just change the text after the {} for the unit name and you'll be set. That way you don't have to worry about changing any other files in the game

    Hallo again,

    but in this file I cannot find the units I would like to change.

    I wanted to change the following unit names in my game:

    "What bothers me a little ist the naming of some of the new units and maybe I can help out as I am German:

    MitBrudern is simply the wrong spelling because the single form should be Mitbruder in singular or Mitbrüder in plural form, like Ritterbruder and Ritterbrüder and there is no need for the capital B - IMHO.

    Same with DiendeBrudern. I think is should be "Dienende Brüder" which would be the correct translation of "serving brethren" or is Diende a -to me completely unknown - form of medieval german?

    Is it now possible to simply change these names in the export_desc_unit.txt or would I have to change these names in other files too and are they changeable at all?"

    So where do I find these new units from the Battle for the Baltic Mod?

    Every unit in the game has to have an entry in export_units.txt. Open up the EDU and do a search for the unit you want. Take a note of the "dictionary" entry for those units. Then do a search in export_units.txt for the dictionary entry.

    And for Battle for the Baltic, make sure you are looking in the Stainless_steel\data\text folder.

    Ah, wisdom rains upon me thanks to you mighty Caesar Clivus!!!

    I found the misspelled units in the Teutonic Order Roster and changed them to my liking.

    Thank you for your help and the fantastic mod. If I can help with infos about the Order or with german translations and words, let me know.

    I might just do that for a future Battle for the Baltic release

    Caesar Clivus:
    It would be an honour to help in such a great work.

    I own several antique and new books about the Teutonic Order and recently visited the Deutschordensmuseum at Bad Mergentheim where the Hochmeister resided from 1525 to 1809 until finally moving its Headquarter to Vienna.. So if you need Information about timelines, flags, castles and Hochmeister or the brethren, just contact me. I'll gladly contribute anything I know or can get a hold of.

    Best regards from Aix-la-Chapelle,

    Stephan
